I believe that we have a few lines out in discussions with potential forwards. Not only for this trade period but for next as well.

Upon what do you base your belief? Sauce or ketchup?

Hardtack, I base it on discussions I have had with friends that are closer to the corridors of power within the MFC than I am. In the past they have had reliable information.

JAMIE ELLIOTT (COLL)

Has put off talks with Collingwood until season’s end as the club manages a tight salary cap. Melbourne has come hard and could land the sharpshooter for nothing under free agency rules. He’d be a handy third banana next to Sam Weideman and Tom McDonald. Elliott would have to financially sacrifice to stay at the Pies.

Getting Tomlinson and Elliot as free agents and so not having to give up any picks would be massive.

Both are in the right age range too. And both have finals experience.

Edited by binman

tomlinson is not a good player. sure he fits the age profile but he is very hesitant with the ball in hand. and doesn't offer much in terms of rebound. so I dont see how he helps us.

Big Maxie was on the news, or what passes for it on Channel 7 (don't judge me, I was just walking past the TV at that point in time) and talking up Jamie Elliot's ability.

Are we close?

Maxi was able to convince Pruess to come over to learn from the best, here is hoping Elliot is convinced by ANB and ..... to learn forward craft.

Multi-thread troll post. Excellent work Cards, triple point score!

Huh?! You mean Weid and Tmac aren’t the answer?

Last time I checked, a forward line was made up of more than 2 players.

Hardly massive when Tomlinson is a C+ player at best and is going to take 4 years at decent money out of TPP. Agree with Lyon, save the Tomlinson money and try to land an A Grader.

FCS Dees, at least have a crack at a genuine A Grader.

Sorry for not telegraphing it more bing, more !!!!!!!!! Next time might do the trick.

Its been a long year and seeing the finals has sent me down a terrible snarky Dees hole.

Our chances of luring Elliott just improved. I reckon had they won  & haven forbid won the premiership he def wouldn't consider coming to the Dees, but now maybe.....

got through the game unscathed. Able to start pre-season right from the get-go ?

Would still have a delayed pre-season due to playing in a prelim.

Thought he played very well, especially early.

We will also be able to guarantee he will avoid the heart-ache of losing another close PF, as we tend to make sure the result is beyond doubt prior to half-time. Plus he'll probably have most of his September's free too (no doubt a big lure).

He was very handy today Good Doctor.

Feeling bullish for 2020 . Triton will need a lot of dees and lagwagon and haute savoie stickers. It will be confusing for most rugby league loving lismorians

13 disposals today, 9 of which were uncontested. Never looked looked like impacting the game, along with Stephenson, which was a major reason Collingwood only had 3 goals till three quarter time. GWS mopped up time and time again. His days are numbered.

They don’t know lagwagon?! They sound very uncouth.

So are we a go on Elliott? Or is he staying?

The first goal of the game? The centering pass on the left? He had his moments (selfishly had a shot from outside 50 late).

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
