Roos was the architect of our rebuild.

Roos believed that clubs should change their model with an older head of coaching.  Yet we persist with the older model?

Many miss Roos.  Lyon is the closest thing to him.

Offer him 4 years as HOC.

We haven’t got the time for Goody to grow into the role.  Goody stays no.2.

Am I turning into a panicked simpleton?  Maybe.

Roos and Bartlett...get it done.

Haha GTFO..  could not think of a worser option.

Ross Lyon would be a perfect fit. He is a brilliant tactician and a coach who preaches structure and has the ability to implement a disciplined gameplan. He would be a good get. He should be interested. He isnt silly, we have a very capable list.

Absolutely not. Ross is way past it, whole gameplan was built on flooding defense which just isnt possible anymore with the rulechanges. I’d say Goodwin needs to get inventive with a new style but I genuinely havent seen anything this year to suggest he has one in the first place.

No.

I'm confused, there is Roos and then there is Ross... which one?

St Kilda still haven't recovered from Lyon's time there. Freo haven't played finals for 5 years.

No to Brad Scott too, before people suggest him.

I'dmuch rather a Voss or Ratten (although he will have the St Kilda job wrapped up).

No thanks

‘Roos and Bartlett get it done’ - I find this confusing.

How do you think Pert got the gig?

Wake up.

Lyon's game plan is outdated and he has continually failed on the big stage.

We need a coach whose game plan and style maximises our strengths and compensates for our weaknesses.

If it were 2005, that may well be Ross Lyon, but in 2020 beyond, it's surely someone else with a similar philosophy. Leigh Tudor?

A Milne bounce and a Scarlett kick gives him 2 flags against the best sides of that year.  Against the Hawks, who were the best team by daylight, they are in the game at 3/4 time.

Continually failed on the biggest stage?  You are joking.  From an MFC supporter who wouldn’t know the difference between Broadway and TAFE theatre.

And yet he has none.
If the Saints or Dockers we're playing in my front yard I would've closed the curtains.
Swans too for that matter considering Roos was using Lyons game plan.
Took over young exciting lists, turned them into unwatchable robots and rung them dry with little thought to the future.

Take a seat, Ross. You failed to win a flag multiple times.

I wonder if TGR delivers a message from the club. This thread is oddly timed and strangely lacks context.

You are a loser Ross!  Don’t come here. From a team that is home in the bottom 4.

You probably would have advised Adelaide to stay clear of Malcolm Blight, who failed to win a flag in 89, 92 and 94.

Mate, it's not 2005 and it's certainly not 1989. Get with the program and get with 2020.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
