If we are in this position next year the blame falls with Roos and Jackson!

There has to be collective responsibility for the loss of Howe and Dunn.  There has to be collective responsibility for the lack of outside speed.  We also blinked when negotiating with Adelaide (2 first rounders in a super-draft), and to a lesser extent Freo.

You forgot to mention collective responsibility for the recruitment of Jordan Lewis. Not feeling yourself today?

Lever is a smart and cleaner footballer than Howe. Howe has had a great past 2 season but he's also 4 years ahead of Lever.

Dunn was a loss. Not quite sure why we got rid of him. Would have been handy this year and last.

We've built a super backline that's played maybe 3 games together. Given our performances across the ground, recruiring May and JK in exchange for Hogan was a reasonable deal at the time. I don't think Goodwin and co could foresee our midfield falling from a top 4 caliber to a bottom 4 caliber overnight.

Look . . . your analysis is spot on Hellofatime. But you're only scratching the surface. I think an independent review is required to investigate the role that Russian interference plays in the minds of the players and officials, the ongoing influence of the global financial crisis, the untimely and tragic death of Lady Dianna Spencer, the long term consequence of the Chappaquiddick incident on the club and how the Bay of Pigs has psychologically scared the organisation for decades. Only then can we be confident we have gotten to the bottom of this fiasco.

Undoubtedly would have had an impact I would have thought SWYL. And I think Dee Dubya is onto something . . . I'd have Tony head up the inquiry. Can't think of a more qualified fellow.

Yes, even as a young 11 year i felt a great disturbance in the Force when MT left the band.

Tony is on only $6,000 a week so i am sure he could use some extra ca$h

Why?  They didn't finish the job!  Our club, our football team, the team we love so much, the team who has not won a premiership since 1964, is enough reason for this to be so important.  This game was born in Melbourne, we are one of the pioneers of the sport, this sport we treat as a religion.  Paul and Peter, you will have let us down badly, if we are not in a better position than when you left us, and sadly, at this time this is how it is.

There's some weird logic going on here. Usually the concern is when someone leaves an organisation in a worse state than when they found it. But blaming someone for events that occurred after they leave and for which they cannot possibly be held accountable is, well, bizarre. It's like saying it's John Lennon's fault that The Beatles never reformed after he was shot.

Look SWYL . . . Tone is cheap at double the price for this task. And if he performs well and does find Roos and PJ responsible for the current malaise, I suggest he undertaken further related investigations. Was Bradman's unavailable what cost us the Cricket World Cup earlier this month?
