Agree that the “standard published stats” suggest he did very little but there were numerous pressure moments and shepherds that are available to some that no doubt show things differently.   
Sure, by his standards, he may have had a quiet one, but he still did the team things and absolutely helped get us there.

Sometimes you have to stop & draw breath to appreciate what you've just seen. Kozzie Pickett kicked 40 goals for the season. Top 20 in the league. 68 scoring shots. As a small forward and in his second year of AFL footy.

As Biff alluded to, this is just amazing stuff from a small forward relatively new to AFL level.

Somewhere I saw a comparison with Cyril and Eddie at the same stages of their careers, and Kozzie is well ahead of them.

His goal sense and breakaway speed, and reading of the fall of the ball is something rarely seen.

Broooose would be drooling over his every moment.

Yeah, thanks @dazzledavey36; I did have a spare 20, easy to find in Premiers2021land.

Such a pleasure to watch where he is in the lead-up to his goals, knowing he's going to get it; I was struck by his sense, read and speed getting to the fall of the ball, sometimes from well away from the drop.

Such a good watch. Makes so much of what he does look easy.

Incredible to think we picked up Pickett, Jackson and Rivers in one draft. Would be no surprise if they were all AA at some stage.

Having a look at that table, you have to feel for Ted Hall who played for St Kilda about 120 years ago.  He played in 73 VFL games and won one.

Was one of the best individual displays I've seen alongside Gawns 5 in a preliminary. 

I'll continue to pump up this kid as long as i want, but his numbers right now against some of the best small forwards I've seen such as Betts, Milne, C Rioli blows them out of the water at similar age.

Jeff Farmer was my absolutely hero growing up and never thought I'd ever see another one as unique as he was. But these highlights below just gives me flashbacks.

Scary to think he's only just turned 21..

 

I do wonder what he wants to be. Does he want to move into the midfield? He can do whatever. 

If he is happy ‘being Cyril’ then he is someone to build around and complement - he is that good.

It was a fantastic performance, one of many more to come i hope.

I am curious though, what was behind this performance because it was not expected. Tactically, i dont think there was much difference in our gamestyle from prior weeks. Was it luck, role change or a bit more effort on gameday? Whatever it was we have to make sure he continues with this as it will then take the focus of opposition coaches and give us the ability to exploit our medium and talls a bit more.

Sometimes you just have a day where everything just falls into place.

His form has been building for a few weeks now.

I thought he became more of a focal point going forward as the game went on, a few players including Trac actively looked for him going I50 instead of bombing it over his head to try to get a crumb. He actually makes very good leads week in week out but gets ignored regularly

Just had a look at some Eddie Betts comparisons to King Kozzie... 

It took Eddie 7 years in the system to kick 6 goals vs KK at 3 years.. 

Eddie also averaged just over a goal a game for his first 4 years, vs KK at 1.6 goals per game. 

What a star and so humble.

gets lost in the wash so to speak. One thing is clear, is that we have some weapons in there that are poorly utilised. 

If there is one thing we have to work on its our forward 50 connection. It also doesnt help when we transition the ball slowly, but i thought the speed of our ball movement was a better despite the poor efficiency (but thats why you need to train and play it a bit more as it takes time to hone in).

On this sort of analysis you'd have to say Jack Ginnivan is a champ (JG vs KP) - averages per game in career

kicks 7.8 v 6.9
marks 3.2 v 2.1
goals 1.8 v 1.3

I don't think anyone here would do a swap for Ginnivan btw

I found it strange that a retiring Eddie Betts was lauded as GOAT small forward.  I saw wee Jeffery kick 9 goals (all after half time) against the Pies in 200?.  That is the benchmark but just half of that would be luxury.

Only thing that stopped Jeff Farmer from being one of the absolute great forward pockets of the game was him passing off to Freo.
