I have my very own opinion on him. I wont say it on here.

How can McGuire walk through a football club after that and speak integrity.. he is a joke

Funny how the loudest voices belong to the fattest whitest most privileged men.ย

A sad reflection of our society and its tendency to stick its head in the sand when it comes to looking in the mirror and acknowledging your wrongness.ย

Imagine if this was happening to Jetta. What an utter disgrace this period was,ย and how heartbreaking that Goodes retired under this cloud of racism instead of with the grand celebration his career deserved.ย

Powerful viewing. Shame those that should have watched, probably didnโ€™tย

You have to shake your head with the Fossil,ย Sam. At one point he lists the various days celebrating minorities like the indigenous or same sex people and thenย asks as a WASP male when is it my time!

Sam when it has never been your time you dolt! Look at your life, private school education,ย 300 games of elite sport, millions earned in the media as a so called footy expert and character, come sporting legend. Sam it has always been about you! For a guy who achieved so much he has the IQ of a peanut.ย

There is a special place in hell reserved for these people.

McGuire should retire tomorrow from all Media commitments.ย

He wonโ€™t, but he should.ย

I guess when you havenโ€™t experience racial abuse you donโ€™t know any better & are ignorant. Just donโ€™t know why these ย commentators just want accept factsย

An excellent, thought-provoking documentary. If people haven't seen it, I strongly recommend they do. While it's clearly football-related, it's the bigger picture about society, privilege and those that haveย a voice and how they use (or mis-use) it, that's most interesting.

And it's probably worth pointing out that while there are some peopleย  mainly in the media - who come out of thisย badly, there are a few who deserve to be recognised for the positive roles they played. I'm not normally his greatest fan, but Mark Robinson was terrific as was Kelly Underwood. And possibly not properly noticed was Luke Darcy trying to stop Eddie McGuire from making a fool of himself.ย

Adam Goodes you are an all round Champion person your doings are invaluable and lead by example for the cause.ย

You are aย  certainly a credit to society.

I canโ€™t stand Robbo but to give him credit he was right on this one and was strong on it from the start. Well done Robbo

Agree,

I have had no issues with him ever but Mark Robinson take a bloody bow! From day dot he was such a strongย supporter for Goodesy and loved how he stood up to Nathan Buckley.ย

Did anyone notice the hypocrisy from Buckley? Mentioned that we shouldnt be speaking about the booing of Goodes and tried to sweep it under the carpet, yet gets up on Anazac day match ceremony and has a sook that we shouldn't be booing a champion in Pendlebury..

[censored] off Buckley! Collingwood.. what a club hey.

It's well known of people with enormous ego and limited principle, that when they look over their shoulder and notice the adoring hordes have gone off in a different direction, they dash over to the head of said horde, and shout "follow me!"

Now Eddie's going to lecture his son's school in how to be racistย not racist. Professor McGuire, Nobel peace prize winner.

I get what youโ€™re saying, but just because you havenโ€™t experienced something personally doesnโ€™t mean you shouldnโ€™t know better.ย

Nobody has ever attacked my sexual orientation but I know itโ€™s wrong. Nobody has ever abused me for having dark skin, but I know itโ€™s wrong.ย

In this day and age to pretend that people โ€œdidnโ€™t knowโ€ booing Goodes was racially motivated is just a cop out.ย

Like someone said in the documentary last night, we want these indigenous players to kick mercurial goals and shut up. I donโ€™t see anyone booing Houli for speaking about his cultural heritage, but as soon as Goodes pointed out the racial vilification and used his platform to try and promote indigenous rights, he was attacked. Not for a week, or a month, but for almost 2 years until it broke him and he had to give up everything he has worked for and walk away.ย

ย

Sorry I donโ€™t mean to attack you at all with this post. I know exactly what you mean. I just think that too often people say โ€œI didnโ€™t knowโ€ and think itโ€™s a valid excuse. Lots of Germans said the same thing about the Holocaust too.ย

Can't "like" this enough. Well said.

A fair portion of the football media are an absolute disgrace, racist bigotry at its finest.

I have a new respect and admiration for Robbo, something I never thought would be happen!

Very hard to say anything new at this point. I'm inclined to let the solid slice of people who were genuinely under some misconceptions about Goodes' own behaviour have their own quiet moment, rather than shout at them to 'change themselves' according to any set prescription.

I just wish there were better ways to cut the ties that allow the true-filth racists and just plain all-round-bstards to subtly drag other people along.

In the end, perhaps the most racist thing done to Adam Goodes was the effort made to slander and misrepresent him in order to rile people up against him.

Haven't caught this yet, but will do. My favourite producer John Battsek (multiple Oscar winner) has also produced a new Adam Goodes doco THE AUSTRALIAN DREAM that Madman are theatrically releasing in the coming weeks.ย

It'll be interesting to watch both films and see what they offer.

Darling's film THE FINAL QUARTER is what he is known for. Social impact docs that are philanthropically financed and should evoke debate and spotlight an issue/issues.

It's interesting that Goodes decided to be involved in two different documentaries about his life (at practically the same time), so I'd say they have different trajectories. Check out THE AUSTRALIAN DREAM too if you can.

Goodes isnโ€™t involved in the final quarter; it was made without his involvementย

How anyone can say the abuse he suffered wasnโ€™t significantly racially motivated beggars belief

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
