Dunno. But how stupid are we as a club, playing the reigning premiers at a neutral venue?

Oh ffs. We did and still do need the $$$$$$$$$, get over it. We almost beat them at there manufactured cauldron this year.

We'll  never maximize our chances of a flag while we still need the $ from selling our home games

It doesn’t help when we only have six day breaks for both N.T. Games when both

Adelaide and the Eagles had Extended breaks. The A.F. L. Do not give Melbourne any favours

Will be there in the company of a one eyed Eagles supporter.  Oh to see a repeat of the look on his face at Perflands in season last year.

Pre drinks and bbq at the motel.  Come one come all.

We will be outnumbered as usual in the supporter stakes too. All those indigenous players that the eagles have will make them the preferred team. Other than money, we have gained nothing from this whole NT escapade.

Yep. West coast are very popular in the NT.

Well it’s no coincidence that we do it for, you know, the money ...

Is it possible for  thread be opened about playing in NT without Demonlanders who are  still grappling about the concept that we play games up there, not posting about their grievance yet again?

Also - the team stay at the Casino.  I went 2 years ago and had a great time... IIRC we were down at half time and came back strongly in the second half. I was only up for 2 nights - and if you are there for a short time - make sure you get out to the Alice Springs Desert Park - awesome experience.... and a lovely walk back into Alice itself which is well signposted.

Thanks. Will try and get there. Looks great!

There are many more powerful reasons why we won’t win a flag in the next few years. We’re third bottom team so far this year.

Not so! Last year there were many indigenous people at the ground supporting MFC!

Interesting from the ticketing site... I thought we had renewed for 2-3 years at least

"This year will be Melbourne’s tenth consecutive year of playing home games in the NT, and it’s with thanks to the Northern Territory Government (NTG) and AFL, who have worked hard with AFLNT and Melbourne FC to sign a one-year agreement covering 2019. Melbourne has had a strong presence in the region over the years, supporting several Northern Territory-based initiatives, such as the education of Indigenous eye health and trachoma disease."

The ticketing site says you can bring an esky so the cheese board is possible !!

Hopefully this will be the final year of such a farcical situation.

Meanwhile Richmond play 7 home games in a row at our Home, The MCG

I have a solution

If we get to say 70,000 members, we should be able to do away with selling home games to prop up the club

I sure hope so, because playing 2 games in the desert each year really [censored] me, as our opponents always have more support.

It has to be a disruption to the season if we are to become serious finalists. Work out new revenue streams...There are 2000 +- people coming into MELBOURNE to live each week

We need to start using our name in the right way....

we all know that NT is not  a strategically sound  move ....sure others play in cairns, Tasmania and even Ballarat but NT makes no sense.

Hell I'd prefer the stupidity of one game a year in China.. and boy that is stupid

Demons have decent support up here. Each community has their own team generally, that being the team that matches their colours, ie Yuendumu magpies. For us, it is the Nyirripi Demons, which has Demons flags in almost every front yard. Unfortunately, it is one of the more remote communities, being some 450km from Alice.

As for me, can’t wait to walk down to the ground, a few hundred meters from home, for what is one of the annual yearly highlights for my children.

Thanks MFC for making that possible

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
