It was a better blend this week against a tough side. Viney disappoints - limited options in his game now.

Hard on Wiedeman.Ā  Ā Ā can be excused until we learn to kick accurately or to space. In the mean time he continues to learn his craft the hard way.Mc Donald on the other hand needs a rest or spell at Casey.

Another disgraceful effort by you JoeBoy - makes me wonder if you actually ever go to the game.

Fritsch - best game 2019

Brayshaw - shades of 2018

Harmes - our prime mover

Petracca - another step forward

Weid - finally showing something

Jones - Can’t hit target

Viney - lost hisĀ tricksĀ Ā

Gawn - gives itĀ everythingĀ

Oliver - kick the football

Brayshaw - leave in middle

Hore - better than mostĀ

May - won his battlesĀ Ā

Lever - will only improve

Fritsch - look better today

Salem - something wasn’t rightĀ Ā

Hannan - had little involvementĀ

Spargo - coughed up regularlyĀ

Garlett - physicality is embarrassingĀ Ā

Hunt - onlyĀ moving targetĀ Ā

T. McDonald - useless leglessĀ liability

 Wagner - little to commend

Salem : Got sore head

Petracca : Strong at ground level

Garlett, Spargo : Too many fumbles

Harmes : Strong Competitive midfielder

Brayshaw : Attacking Inside Mid

Brayshaw : Tighten disposal

Team : Only kick to space /Make them run into kick

Hannan : Learn right foot

Gawn : Great Great Great

Hore : Find of Season

Lever : Settled and survived

May : Showed good promise

Frost : Missed him (did not think I would ever say this)

Oscar Mc : Cannot be blamed this week

Clarrie : Three more blinks per disposal = massive improvement to side

Tom Mc : Too many roles

Ā

I thought Harmes was good, and tried hard!

Weid was much better, and looked more confident. He'll get better, especially once he starts getting some better delivery

Trac was much better in the midfield.

Fritter was decent. I think he provides much better value up at half forward.

Weid was our best forward.

Tmac should go back to Casey against Freo - he’s not going to find the form at this level. He’s had 12 weeks.

I’m not 100% convinced he’s injured. Has not once alluded to it in interviews and has continuously talked about his form issues and ways to try and get out of his slump.

I think Petracca will be traded especially if Dunkley comes on.

Well that willĀ  not happen!!!

Max - Superb Supreme Sublime

Both he and the Weid DO NOT lead to ball carriers. Both drop back and oppo just cut us off to often.

Petracca was good today...the only one who didn't fumble & looked poised with ball in hand.

If Weeds was the filth would kick 5 plus per game!

Looking at our forward line today and most of the season,Ā Ā l reckon there are a lotĀ in the queue ahead of him. Probably all the forwards actually.

In a decent side with a properly functioning forward line l think he would go ok.

I actually agree with you,Ā  apart from Hunt.Ā  Isn't he our leading goal kicker this year?

Problem is, he should be taking leaps and bounds, not steps. He started well, but I felt went missing for long periods in the game.

He is. What an indictment!

Hunt for me is aĀ back flanker every day of the week and twice on Sundays. We miss his run and carry greatly.

Do we? For the most part our midfield and backline performed admirably yesterday. There was some skill errors coming out of the back 50 but that was attributable to collingwoods pressure and besides God knows Hunt isn't going to help with skill.

If we are going to have a pure defencive forward like ANB was last year I think Hunt is a good choice. At least he has genuine pace.Ā

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle.Ā As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.Ā

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
