Where has he and @ProDee disappeared to i wonder......

Our season has taken its toll on plenty already and it will only get worse after the Collingwood game.

I wanted to hear him say, Professional forwards are paid to kick goals. OK they missed, it happens, but they need to work harder at goalkicking and we will give them that opportunity. First up. Sam and Smithy take  kicks from the same distance first thing Monday morning  and they do not stop until they get 8 out of 10, maybe 10 out of 10 thereby reinforcing their confidence.

I know many have been saying we need to practise our goal kicking, but I'm sure we do similar amounts to other teams.

To me, it's a mental issue.

We have shown an ability to kick straight at times, particularly when the pressure is off.  But it has now happened on too many occasions in close games for me to think it's more a physical thing than a mental thing.

Look at how Trac relaxes when he shoots from 50 - he is a thumping kick. Then watch him when he lines up from 25m out - you can see the fear and panic at potentially missing the easy one.

Hunt kicks a great goal from 45 then misses from 20 out.

Smith is a good kick for goal at Casey and kicks one in the second term. Then, in the last, with the heat on, he misses a very similar one from straight in front.

Weideman, a beautiful kick, misses one he'd kick 9 out of 10 times when the heat was on at the end.

TMac, a generally accurate set shot, misses two he'd normally kick against WCE.

It goes on an on and on.

I think we have a real fear of failure and it infects our goal kicking in these types of games - especially when the misses build up and so too the pressure.

In an even competition goal kicking accuracy is a significant statistic and we need to sort this mental issue out as we head into next season. Look at the way the Eagles regularly snatch wins despite not playing well by nailing the key goals at the big moments - we are like their polar opposites.

With this season now a write off, the club needs to be more ruthless on who gets game time. I.e. if they're not going to be part of a permiership team, dont play them. Garlett, OMac and JKH.

agreed. JKH gone, Omac depth can play in twos as back up. Garlett im 50/50 atm. last night he was good, then poor at the contest, good at the contest, good again then p1ssweak in the last quarter. see how his year pans out as we don't have too many forward pockets on the list at present.

Tmac kicks straight, his misses are straight just lined up wrong, he seems to nail the one on the angle right footers have trouble with sliding accross the face, then the one that suits right footers he has no natural swing to bring it back.

Weid can miss the odd easy one but his technique seems pretty good so would expect him to be accurate most times. 

Hunt, like gawn is more confident kicking from 40 out. After gawns miss vs geelong he said in an interview that distance troubles him and is only 50 50, so obviously he was trying to work on it, but if hes say 80 20 or better from further out, why not just walk back and kick from furthef out?

Trac, i think he needs some one on one with a dunstall or fevola, respect is a big thing, and when someone like dunstall tells you something you take it on board more.

We've been told our team is underdone, its a lot harder to hit that team mate inside 50 or put it over the goal umpires head when fatigued. Our skills are down and so is goal kicking

I think ProDee stopped posting after the Saints game. He read the writing on the wall for this season.

Both visit the site just not posted. 

They are probably waiting till we turn the corner, win a few games and come back to preach 'told you so'! 

So we may not hear from them for about another month!

I think you'll find they stopped posting because this is such an awful place after a loss and most of the comments and suggestions are extreme with many just plain dumb.  Like me, I imagine they are after sensible comment (like Scoop above) and not emotional sentiment with no intellectual content.

They read because there are some good posters, which is why I'm here now (because I saw the last post was by P-Man who I like). 

I don't know if it's been said before in this thread but whilst I'm very disappointed about last night I'm much happier than I was after the GWS game.  We played well.  We saw continued proof that Oskar will be a good player, we saw we can compete with a good team with our second string backline playing, and I mean our VFL backline playing bar perhaps one or two.  May, Lever, Jetta, Salem and Hore playing and do you think we lose that game?

The criticisms of JKH are silly.  His second game since March and he was rusty.  22 possessions, 6 tackles and a few wonky kicks.  Who would have thought?  Viney to be dropped and is a one trick pony.  Is that a thought you really want to read? What planet does that come from?  15 negative comments from Joeboy when we lost a game we completely outplayed the opposition in other than on the scoreboard.  Really?

It shouldn't surprise you that many of the better and more sensible posters just can't be bothered.  I'd love to see how many people who talk about the dangers of social media and bullying posted in the Oscar thread.

I was watching the match with my American lady friend. She knows nothing about AFL. When Melbourne was well ahead she said "your team is going to win". I told her we wouldn't. In the last quarter she said "your team is going to win". As each player took a set shot she said "he'll kick this". I said "no he won't, we'll lose". Sadly I was correct.

The only upside is winning $58 betting on the Crows. I've bet against the Dees all season. Financially well ahead. (I'd rather see Melbourne win and lose the bets.) Get on Collingwood for QB. Offering juicy odds of $1.35.

Firstly Players are smart enough not to read these sites.

Secondly just about every game i have been to and Ive been to a few, players are verbally abused far more than here.

Thirdly yea sometimes posters go too far but for the m ost part they are usually paid up members that keep this club going and they understandably  have a right to call out players who under perform.

The newspapers have often be worse.

We need a sports psychologist. Not sure if we have one but if not it is every bit as crucial to our success as Missons replacement.

It's part and parcel of the game, the sport runs on the passion of the people. Part of that is everyone has an opinion on it and if you don't perform you'll be criticised.

Don't like it? Go get a 9-5er like every other Joe schmo out there and live in anonymity.

And while you're at it, go through last night's side and tell us all the players who have 150 - 200+ games, for those with less experience/development to play alongside.

Have a look at how many players Geelong are putting on the park each week who have over 200 games experience. It's around 25% of their team. We're managing 1 (Nate Jones).
