He never should've let Jenkins get goalside of him.

And once he did he never should have let Jenkins get a kick off when he had him in a full body tackle.

Weak as pisswater

I’m afraid so. I tend to look at the positives, and have thought Oscar too often has been unfairly targeted.  Tonight,  though he was not up to it, his net effect was negative.

Same.
But after what we've put up with for 50+ years.
I want a few.

I would if I could. Thanks for asking though Doc!!

Great effort to the boys, they tried their hearts out. Not much more you can ask than that. Players gonna hate, hate, hate, hate...

How on earth did we lose that. How many behinds in the last quarter. 8?

Oscar has done me in. Spargo was terrible.

Off the top of my head the Saints game at Docklands, both Cats games last year, tonight - we almost did the same against the Subs a few weeks back. I know there's more but I'm not going back into the memory bank of pain, those are just the ones I can remember without even trying.

I reckon it's 9 games in 2.5 years where we have clearly been the better team but have found a way to lose (10 if we include GC this year where we did everything to throw it away).

In all the below games we have had more (or at worst) equal scoring shots, in some case significantly more scoring shots.

That's almost 1 in 5 H&A games that we are throwing away with poor finishing.

I thought we had fixed it after beating WCE late last year and then the finals, but this season it's back to how it was.

For so long we waited to have a competitive side - now we've got a pretty good one but they keep on snatching losses in quite extraordinary fashion.

2019

GC 8.13 v 9.6 (won this one)

WCE 9.15 v 13.7

Adel 12.16 v 14.6

2018

Geelong 13.16 v 14.13

Port 9.11 v 11.9

Geelong 14.14 v 16.4

Sydney 10.18 v 13.9

2017

Geelong 13.19 v 20.6

Fremantle 15.15 v 16.10

North 10.12 v 11.10

The beers were going down so well at half time, yet once again the MFC have managed to slip another rohypnol into my drink and my life I’m general.

That's the problem though. They did on the most part play well. They should have won. But it's just so often. Even last year, Geelong by 2, port Adelaide, Sydney,  we were the better side in all games and lost and it cost us a top 4 spot and possibly a flag? Not once did we really steal a game where we just hung around and got over the top late.

Tonight just continues the theme, we may dominate, but it doesn't mean we'll get the chocolates!

the W.C effort & tonight are better efforts, but if you lose when you shouldn't, there is still something NQR!

Seriously. Weak as [censored] - Weiderman, Garlett, Hunt, Smith and Max Gawn. Soft as butter in front of goal. Call it as it is. Weiderman wants $650k a year! He plays football. That’s all he does FFS. For all you apologists, all I see are crocodile tears after the game. If I was Goodwin, I would tear the shreds off them.

I was out tonight so was able to flick through the first quarter and got to just before half time without getting hopes up (yep even if we were 40 points up at half time i would still not believe we were a certainty given the last 48 years) and then saw this message from mum.....

"What a bummer they had that won !!! Very disappointing! Xxx"

Initially I was disappointed but then figured mum just saved me an hour of watching what sounds like more of the same MFC crappola!

I said before the game this was a very winnable game but not when playing the likes of Spargo, Jeffy and Fritsch (continuing to be played in defence....well done again Mr G).

Looks like we can now add Omac.to that list with all the fall out here.  And Tom is so far out of form.  Did a few good things in the first but no goals again!  Might not recover?

Trade a stack of the NQRs for Cameron, a super silky outsider and a genuine small forward.  Although even that might not save us from ourselves.  We are our own worst enemy and have been for an eternity.

In addition, why the hec are the boys getting kicking lessons from one of the worst kicks ever in Todd?  Any other AFL club would be bringing in the best at it like Plugger, Piggy or The King!  Instead we use the worst ....laughable.  As was some of the slack lax zoning BS with virtually no pressure in our forward half when the Crows were bringing the ball out of our square from a score.  Witches hats and made it too easy to launch inside 50 under very little pressure far too often.

As i said after the St Kilda match, Goody has no idea and continues to persist with this nonsense ballistic method for an entire match which is just not plausible.  Add to this a no pressure zone in our forward half, far too many NQRs that continue to be gifted games (Omac, Jeffy, JKH & Spargo) and you have a recipe for disaster.

How far up were we at half time?  Without watching the second half I'm betting at virtually no stage did we try to slow play with possession, control the game and eat up the clock.  Am i correct?

Goodwin should at least fake a really fed up and disappointed persona at the press conference. He can apologise to the team straight after.

Yes I wish I had of watched sing instead of us again haha!

Thought I'd watch the cricket to distract myself but Zampa's stupid headband is reminding me of the shots Hunt missed. And Warner/Smith are just jerks.

They lost their best player at quarter time (Sloane) and played one short in that heat & humidity and come right over the top of us. Wow!

Yes, the Smith & Weideman misses were horrible, but the defensive efforts of Wagner when he slid in and took the legs of two Melbourne players out and left Betts free to run into goal, the weakest effort by JKH that I’ve seen in a long, long time when he sh#!t himself and fell over which allowed Jenkins to run past him and handball for a goal, plus nearly everything that Oscar did were more horrific.

I also can’t believe the drop off of Tom MacDonald!!!

Jkh was pushed both hands square in the back by Jenkins. That's why he lost his feet.

 Correct.

and the failure to defend their kick ins was deplorable and is purely a coaching failure. It wasn’t the players. It was the way we set up and that’s instructions from the box

if you look at it clinically, JKH had a real shocker tonight. I;'ve though he could play a bit but his efforts, his skills, lack of reading of the play were all terrible. falling to ground against Jenkins deep in defence cost us a goal no-one would cough up. I knew that would hurt us badly.

He's had too many chances.

25 up at 1/2and really that was flattering to Adelaide. We dominated the 3rd but actually had the margin reduced to 16. We kicked the first of the last.

Really we didn't try to slow things, but honestly I think Adelaide looked more dangerous when they went slow!! The picked holes in us, when they went quick, apart from iMac onn Jenkins, they didn't really look like breaking through regularly!

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
