Time to review our entire forward line for 2020. At this point Hunt would be the only lock.  Pruess for Petty was a poor non selection.  T-Mac could have played Petty's role and was playing down back for a.short time anyway at one point.

Fritsch isn't a backman's bootlace I'm not sure why we are persisting here.  Time to go forward?  Or dropped.

Lockhart might need a spell?

The FD must start playing Jones more at HF and the bench and IF we keep persisting with Tracc he slowly takes over from Jones through the mid as an inside/outside.  FCS he can't kick a goal, why are we persisting with this losing set up!!!?????  When will Goody wake up to the Jones/Tracc switch??????

Tom McDonald isn’t a defender and Petty was very good in his second game.

We really miss Joel Smith, I can live without Weideman who lacks agility.

Preuss, Tim Smith, Joel Smith and Tom McDonald playing up the ground and running more  would be my ideal big forward combination.

Luv him, but has been woeful for weeks now...!

I think if he had 5% of the old old number 31 heart he would be a great player.

Better games from the McDonald brothers tonight and Hore keeps getting better each week. He's contested marking is a real strength. Brayshaw looks disinterested and lacking energy. He needs a kick up the bum from Goody!

I only wanted the team to show some endeavour and compete as there were some predicting a smashing. No we didn't win but I thought that the best 4 quarter effort for the year. The team took chances and made mistakes but no one can fault the effort. My disappointment is with the established players who just don't stay in the game for long enough. Trac could have been anything tonight but he has a lot of maturing to do in the footy smarts.

I loved Maxies game, he was awesome. I loved the run of Hunt and his attack on the ball. Harmes never stops running and Clarry was back running and creating. I was impressed with Marty Hore and noted that Baker shows some poise and speed an.

Consider that with so many injuries we have players in the team with limitations but it was TMac, Trac and Garlett who failed in front of goal and they are are go to players. Kennedy rarely misses and two of Shuey's snaps were unbelievable. It was very notable how much better the Eagles field kicking was and ours was horrible. We made the yards and entries by overlap handball and some will not play many more games because they cannot kick.

As for the umpires I thought that it was only one who imposed himself on the game, Dean Margetts the other 2 didn't appear to make many decisions it was all Mr W.A. I hope Eddie creates a groundswell of criticism against Margetts a) for pinging Smith for holding the ball and b) for not paying a free for a sling tackle. The scores were level and Smith about to snap for goal.

Not sure what’s happened to his kicking. He was going at 17% DE at half time. Much improved after half time but that handball, sheesh. Should have thrown him forward in the last to jump on the back of McGovern at least.

As for the overall game, gutted. It was there for the taking.

We are not Bombers, Pies, Tigers or Cats. We won’t say a thing.

Thankfully a few in the media are though.

It was a gallant effort. We were always going to be up against umpiring decisions, that's life. We knew what we signed up for.

Kick entering 50 is the one that killed us again. And it was pretty woeful at times.

Christian Petracca, this has become a serious problem. He doesn't miss, he doesn't even shank, he fogtoggles his shots. If that makes sense.

Harmes was excellent, how some media people think he was down this year. Thought T-mac presented well. I love the way Jayden Hunt is going about it right now, a man possessed up forward.

That's all I gotta say really. Season in tatters. Bummer.

Fritsch is having the 2nd year blues and doesn't have the game to play down back. He is missing targets and his skill drops when put under pressure. I am sure he will develop into a fine footballer but not down back.

Omac very good all game, a lot on here will call for him to be dropped but he was very strong tonight. Tmac had a great first half then looked like he thought he was on and forgot he had to try, should have kicked 5

We were out coached in last quarter. WCE blocked up the centre lane so our ball use became stagnant. I am not sure Godwin is capable of changing from plan A if it doesn’t work. That makes us too easy to play against.

Season is not in tatters. 3/6 is not good however that effort with nearly a Casey team in was great and just watch when players start returning. We win 2 out of next 3 ( tough I know) and the second half of year will be ours. If will we are good enough to make finals I don't know but boy no one will want to be plying us after the bye !!

Wouldn’t blame the Coaching tonight, he can’t kick for goal.

Kick straight and we win by 5-6 goals or more. That is not his fault.

Gutted at the result but think the defence did well and midfield were well on top. Forward conversion was missing but all in all a good performance. It was a good effort, the backline held up much better against their talls especially considering the outs. If we had played Preuss the result would be different.

Max Gawn is a work horse  and a War horse. Why wasn't  Preuss playing tonight? Gawny needed  a breather and some help and just can't do it week in and week out. He will most definitely break down and that is not what we want. Preuss could have been a foil for TMac and a marking option up forward. The beast that he is  and needed tonight to bring ball to ground as well.

Sorry football dept you got this one wrong.

Frits up forward thanks we have plenty to go in defence but can't kick straight forward. Let's see if he can clean us up.

I'm not one that blames the umps usually , but the last quarter the umps cost us 3 goals . Sure we stuffed up,many times in front of goal and we lost it there , but what about the unrealistic attempt to mark that was waved away that led to Kennedy goaling , the blatant handball seen by every viewer in the world , goal , then Smith sling tackle and probably out injured next, week that cost us a goal , 3 dead set goals gifted to the Eagles . Complete raut

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
