O Mac divides DL again. When our better ball users in Lewis and Fritsch were turning the ball over time and time again in the first half , O Mac showed them up by hitting targets out of defence. I thought it was his best game of the season so far.

Fair overreaction, 1 player would not have cost us the game. By half time I was ready to rule a line through Frost forever, his game sense was just terrible, then he pulled out the last quarter and he started to look like a footballer.

I’ll agree to disagree but imo as soon as we have Lever or May in the team OMac will be playing VFL. Hore and Frost are miles ahead of him.

BTW Frost maybe won us the game late by his positive proactive acts

His last quarter was disgusting. He nearly lost us the game when it was all on the line. He did not attack the ball and that is inexcusable. I was a fan but after what i saw today Frost is miles ahead of him

He'll never be any good until he starts attacking the ball with intensity. The last quarter was terrible and its certainly not the first time. Has the intensity of a wet lettuce leaf.

I said Frost had a great last 15 mins but he was pretty ordinary up until then. When may and lever are back, on form this year neither omac or Frost will get a game

How could Lockhart not get in Best? Pretty stiff. Better and more influential than Oliver for longer, who only got into the game in the 3rd.

That may be the case mate, but you've got to work with what you've got. Frost isnt the smartest footballer, but takes the game on and is fast... more importantly got us 4 points!!

With everyone suggesting we are struggeling with no runners allowed on the ground during play, runners were not to be on the ground coaching, they made a rule years ago that they were to deliver messages direct from the coach and straight back off the ground. Not to be filling space or coaching.

I think its Nick Maxwell for gws was the worse i saw at this, continually stragecically placing himself in a slap in the face to the game. If we were staying on field and runners were coaching players then we were part of the problem.

Now runners are place around the ground and run on after a goal with a drink, my question, do they have communication with the box and still run messages out and if they do, why cant they be up and down and yelling messagrs from the boundary, like the interchange trying to get melkshams attention to come off for oliver for 5 minutes apparently.

Frost will

Omac and Wagner to the magoos

Frost as sweeper is a good structure, he's fast, tall and makes a contest

Clarkson is showing signs of being a sore lose.  Blunt Clarkson

About the Dees:

"They'll be dancing from the rooftops tonight – but they didn't play outstanding footy, either, today.

"A really good side would have really hurt Melbourne with some of the opportunities we had today – and that's the disappointing part," he said.

"We couldn't sit there and say, 'Melbourne's pressure was just enormous and that's what stopped us from dropping marks and missing kicks and that sort of stuff'.

All that may be true but poor form from Clarkson.

Very true. We were bad today, they were just as bad. Game could have gone either way. The first half was close to the worst half of footy I can remember watching.

I wasn't a big fan of Goodwin carrying on like that after the game either. I could understand it after our first win but seemed right over the top for the way we played and the quality (or lack of) of opposition that we played.

Despite winning, I'm finding it very hard to get excited about our season. Even when we were on top in the game there was no system, it was just repeat inside 50s.

Jayden hunt has a few things to work on... true.

but I have NEVER seen anyone lead so fast at the football and take it when he marked and kicked a goal.

That was brilliant. Love the Hunt.

Goodwin has been Neeld-esque in his celebrations after a win. Like as if each win us a godsend.

All good mate, I’m not looking for an argument. I just think that Oscar is so reactionary. He had the advantage in a marking contest against Gunston I think it was and waited for him to go to the ball, then the ball was kicked to him and he didn’t go at it and got beaten again. Frost at least went at the ball and made an impact/ something happen.

I just don’t get the lack of intensity. There is no doubt he uses the ball well by foot but he ain’t getting us over the line in a one one one in a GF...Frost might though

Fantastic result today. Man there’s no better feeling than being on the right side of a close game and hearing our song as the relief pours in!

Couldn’t focus as much as possible as usual, had a special guest with me and was trying to keep them entertained. But will give this a shot:

James Harmes you star. Elite level midfielder for sure. Clayton Oliver copped some stupid heat from some of those around me, even one suggesting a VFL run. Get stuffed. Hibberd back to the rebounder we know. Salem up the ground was an excellent move and is there a better sight than this guy kicking the ball?

Lockhart is a player, the desperation is what sells me on him. Last but not least and some might baulk at this but welcome back Oscar, you belong here.

The rest of his game was very good, so it was harsh to say 2 acts could have cost us the game. Plus I was frustrated that Lewis kicked the ball to him anyway, he had about 4 better and clearer options, I'm sure omac was not expecting it at all.

It's not a lack of intensity, it's a lack of confidence. The second-guessing and hesitation are classic signs.

But he just has to play through it. Sending him back to the VFL where his ability to read the ball is clearly a class above and he gets a lazy 23 possessions without having to work for them isn't going to help anyone. He had more 1%'ers than anyone else, and his 6 marks and 100% disposal efficiency go down on the "plus" side of the ledger, so hopefully he can build on that and get a bit more confidence.

Sorry mate I rate you as a poster but have to disagree. Watch the replay and you will see him give up the advantage position on multiple occasions and then throw his weak arm up and watch while a hawks player marks the ball...no intensity and no aggression. He has a better football brain than Frost but lacks the aggression and proactiveness required.

His last quarter almost cost is the game too...there is no denying that

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
