Richmond should have sacked Hardwick in 2016 and Collingwood Buckley in 2017. Lighten up champ.

They didn't though. When Neeld was sacked the AFL did not trust our board with another rebuild because it was obviously unviable.

I don't get why this slow team would be better being slower, on a wet, slow ground? I don't think you could explain it even if you could be bothered. I have no idea what you are suggesting? Perhaps that we have not been losing by enough?

Dazzler's confidence you would work it out was misplaced.

He was making a joke about it being a pity preuss wasn't in to run through Scully.

Sheesh.

So it is more important that we even up on ancient history on players who are not a threat, rather than to win games? No wonder the team is going backward. I would rather put energy into winning games.

No. Forward for sure. I think you're a bit rattled dl.

Don't stress. We'll win. 23 points

None of those were sacked and all are better coaches than Goodwin. I want the Demons to win and be successful but I am a realist. I just can't see it happening under Goodwin, he does not think on his feet. Goodwin will manage the team and speak well publically but success needs a coach that can coach well.

I think our differing points of view are a bridge to far... and I'll leave you with this thought

All are better coaches than Goodwin, because they now have silverware... so its a post hoc evaluation.

Early in their career as coaches, they also were not viewed as 'good' or 'able to 'build' a team...nor had won silverware. This is exactly where Goodwin sits right now.

Whilst it's a results driven business, and he media push a narrative that a win each week is the only thing that matters, what the underpinning evidence is, is that stability at a board level and at a head coach level, matters for success.

Because of this, I would hope Goodwin stays on for his contract.

He will stay for the reasons I suggested. Goodwin has done his apprenticeship and has shown he is one dimensional, is a limited gameday coach and has not been able to develop more than a very limited game plan with no plan B. I think this will be his last coaching appointment.

When are they going to turn the heat on at the G?

DL, can you climb up on the grandstand roof and see if the pilot light is on?

He won’t stay if he doesn’t perform, nor should he.

cant say i see much difference between him and neeldy

Good luck boys and especially Declan.  Carn the Mighty Demons!

Raining. We fumble and Can't hit targets when it's dry. Now we're playing a team coached by one of the all-time greats, who absolutely schooled Goodwin in a similarity miserable day last year.

Buckle in, folks, and lower those expectations.

He has not performed. Even with a more balanced list, he lost us many games at the selection and with inflexible gameday coaching. He will stay until 2022, unless you are offering to pay him out.

the only thing more miserable than the weather is the crowd.

25k tops.

I see we have a new troll, FFS some people live boring lives.

Enjoy your day @Drunkn167 hope it's memorable for Dec, you and all the family.

Cmon Dees

Jayden Hunt’s hair is looking particularly lovely today... and that’s about the only positive I can take into the match

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
