So, Goody steps up, what does he say:

  • we lacked connection
  • were hurting, we know our supporters are hurting
  • we are gunna keep working
  • its little things
  • we got a week and a half to go back and work on it
  • we are in this together, we are unified
  • they we’re a great team, the tigers.

what do you reckon?

Something about a process and we aren't happy with where we are at etc etc

"we are easy to play against"

"Judge us on our performance... Next week"

"I am relishing [censored] taking a team from the prelim to bottom 4 in 7 game, it's a great learning curve"

"We will learn from this"

"This is not our brand and we need to get better"

"We didn't see it coming"

Spot on.  Same old rubbish.  What you won’t here

 - We are lazy

- we cannot take a mark inside 50

- we handball to no one

- we have no grit or hard edge

- we create turnovers

- we thought it would just happen

Reckon he will play the injuries card. It’s due to be played.

For those bitching about Goodwin and his soundbites to questions that are posed to him... I would love to see your own responses to them (seriously, write them down)...because I suspect there is nothing he can say that would appease any of you?

I'd hate to be a coach and be under scrutiny publicly week in week out....and having to justify/explain/mansplain reasons for a loss...

Exactly.  He plays a straight bat to the media, and so he should.  It will always be that way.

The only team we beat last year out of those we’ve played was essendrug. We lost to swans. Looks like we had an easy draw.

We beat St Kilda.

Can anyone photoshop Neeldy as the driver?

I want to thank Demonology for inspiration:

Put relative speed on the wings (not Lewis and Jones).

Jones HB

Lewis hiding as the anchor

Hibbo up the ground.

TMac defence.

Spargo and Wagner out.

I finally found the angle-grinder to get the magnets off the whiteboard.

Get stuffed

His response...

- we look good until another team takes the field

-scoring has never been a priority

-the new rules heave hurt us, I’ve been aiming for a rugby style game and this new ‘football thing’ has really hurt us

“We’ll review this incredibly strongly as a club.

We’re hurting as a club. The coach the players and obviously the supporters.

We’ll continue to work incredibly hard to rectify the areas of our game such as forward connection and defensive running.

Blah blah.”

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
