Great thread! Throw Josh Wagner in the boat too. Can’t believe how many moments are missed by these guys. Key moments where it ends up costing a goal the other way. Not horrible players just too often involved in 12pt plays that hurt far too much. Everyone talk about sample size well I have seen enough now to form the opinion that they can’t improve enough to reach the required (premiership) standards. Time to move on to Petty and Keilty to learn more. Season is not lost IMO .........yet, but might be very close.

Tim Smith and Preuss might be the more likely forward options anyway.

We cannot afford tSmith and Petracca in the same forwardline,  in this new 666 setup, imv.   Unless they are spread apart,  and we kick better, which is not going to happen. I would play tSmith ahead of Tracca because Smith is a stronger mark,  and is taller,  plays taller,  so we can then have other smalls around.

Tracca is neither small nor tall,  isn't a reliable mark overhead,  and cant outrun Maxy.  Fumbles too often up forward...  as he has to think about how he can get past his opponent, without any speed.

They both need a spell in the twos.

Tmac must be injured as I can’t believe how far he has regressed from last year. Still, he has a bucketload more presence than Oscar.

Send him back, he was a solid CHB before the move forward and get rid of little bro. Keilty up forward.

ANB is the biggest front runner I’ve seen in my 30 years supporting. The kids scared of his own shadow.

I would have kept Bugg, Tyson and Kent over ANB - and probably rather the Pedo Bear in front of Oscar!!

I would rather play with 20 blokes then have ANB and Oscar absolutely spud it up for us.

Said at the start of the year that Oscar will be our own version of Zac Dawson,  will be gifted 150 games over his career.

To be fair Omac was looking the goods a few years back under Rawlings. Then along cake Chaplin.

First things first Chaplin needs to go, then we can assess whether or not the issue actually is with OmAC or not. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Chaplin telling him to play loose off his man.

'dazzle', what I would give to have Dawson in the team.

At least he could kill a contest.

The 2 guys we have in at the moment spoil with the power of a wet lettuce leaf.

Although Frosty did get one ripper spoil in tonight, unfortunately he came over the top of Max & spoiled him.

OMc is playing really conservatively. he has gone further into his shell. this exposes Frost and the other defenders all are now struggling in particular , so something their is not right.  Someone (Jetta) will get hurt soon, if they don't sort it out.  He's not as strong as Whelan was.

That "Frost effort" was disgraceful. Could not believe what I saw.

Oscar and ANB were shocking tonite and back to Casey.

Hunt is NOT the answer. no brains and takes the easy way too often, resulting in lesser outcomes for us defensively...  offensively has not smarts.  >>> Casey. and out..

He can be as dumb as dog poo for all I care if he kicks 3 every week. Weren’t you one suggesting for him to play in the forward line?

Hunt and Lockhart both did well tonight.  If they continue to improve as forwards I feel confident we can win 5 or 6 games this season.

We'd be better with chandler, bedford or spargo.

Our forwardline is a dysfunctional mess , which is making all players struggle.

Goodwin must send ANB back to Casey.  It’s a no brainer.

as for Oscar, we are stuck with him and Frost until mid season.  Our so called depth is just BS.

Oscar is a liability Soi and has absolutely ZERO weapons that might help justify his place.

Would be getting May in as his replacement as soon as he's in shape and earned it.

Oscar had 1 intercept possession. 1. One. Uno.

Imagining playing 120 minutes of football as a key defender and only once getting the ball from the opposition. That's laughable.

Is Frost better or worse, I'm not sure, but the guy at least will get the ball back sometimes.

Oscar was an ok talent - nice kick, works hard, seems like a good guy - but he never had the speed in the legs or speed in the mind and he's peaked. He had a good go of it the last two years but there just seems nothing left in terms of physical ability, physicality or picking up the game quicker.

This ☝️.

At least Frost attacks the ball and has the athleticism to apply a second effort.

Oscar can't even master the defensive basics of applying a spoil... he's off with the fairies, doesn't know whether to go for the ball in flight or body his man and ends up doing neither.  It's embarrassing.  You would love to play on him, you can beat him in so many different ways.

We are taking the p*ss with this project and it's making us a laughing stock.

to be fair, the back position was always going to win that contest, especially with you being able to use hands now.

Frost should have been closer to his man in the first place though.

I was right above that contest 'Buzzy'...all Frost needed to do was push his body back into Bagly, he's the far bigger man.

He just gave up his position with out a fight.

I’d love to know how many (or how few) hours the coaches are putting in to working on ANB’s touch to fix his fumbles.

He should be spending at least two hours a week just working on this. I’d be shocked if they have spent two hours in total over his whole career judging by how often he still fumbles.

but ours it not a "possession" style of footy.....so fumbling is probably well suited

Re Oscar and Frost, as one poster has said before, Oscar plays as though he doesn't want to be noticed. Frost on the other hand at least takes the game on so his mistakes stand out more. I know who I'd rather have out of the 2 of them.

Oscar is as meek and mild a defender as they come, and Frost is just a dumb footballer .

Id bring Keilty in and move TMac down back, Preuss up forward and Garlett because we are getting killed in the air and on the ground up there.

We need to try something, change it up and try and create a spark.

ANB will sleep with the light on tonight... pathetic.

Oscar would be average at best at local level, bewildering how he gets a game.

We used to laugh (sadly) at the courage (lack of) of Gysberts. Oscar is a greater chicken and always has been with the MFC.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
