Old dee, you've officially moved from pessimistic to maudlin. Cheer up...there is a bonus to be found from poor performaces. One can rock up to the G late on gameday and still get a good seat.

Correct LDC. I don't go to any games at the G against Pies /Tigers just too hard.

As the saying goes every cloud has a silver lining.

I reckon @old dee 's mood will swing depending upon the amount of single malt or free pinot he guzzles down.

More likely to swing based on the number of games we win Bbo.

seriously do you really think we are any chance of getting a flag in the next decade?

I asked myself that question 10 years ago od.
It’s really too painful to contemplate

I reckon our answers might be the same

Two crimes against English here. "It's understood" is completely unnecessary and who describes people as "faces"? They don't have bodies? minds? souls? Ugh

You missed “approaching towards...” in the paragraph before that one?

Off of !

Cannot understand that when butchering the language, shortening and misspelling words the Americans decided to double up, off of.

One gets off the horse. Not off of the horse.

1 Dee, 1 Pie, 1 Blue and 1 undecided in my house = 4 Continuous Dees members year after year.

Might have to look at signing the Dog and a couple of chooks up

I hope that we get more members but the trouble is if you get 70000 members and they turn up, then you have to buy a reserved seat as well to gain admittance. West Coast has a waiting list for their Membership.

i can’t see us getting 70000 members without sustained success. Maybe 50 - 55000 at a push this year.

And that's how you become a BIG Club.

Membership plus reserve seating means revenue the AFL don't  get their hands in nor do any other Club,

We can't have it both ways.

Old Dee says he won't or doesn't go to Melb games vs Pies and Tigers!

By changing   his membership or seating location this ( or getting to the ground earlier ) or reserving s seat this is all solved Simple but stubborn!

Same situation though if we ever get bigger!!!

Gabba has reserve seating like West Coast snd you can rock  up 5 mins before whether playing Tigers or GCoast!!!

I’ll admit that after 25yrs if membership I’ve not renewed, I’ve opted out of my reserve seat, life has changed for me and the 2hr each way trip isn’t as achievable as it once was.
prob get a 3 game membership near seasons start.

I know exactly how you feel Gorgoroth. Sadly the MFC membership has a high ratio of older people and our problem will only increase. We need sustained success to get young people to replace us.

You are correct 58er. However I have chosen not to pay more / increase the complexity of going to a football game. When it is too hard ( for me) it becomes a tv game ( if it is on free to air). For years I have considered my membership as a charitable donation. Like Gorgoroth there is a year not too far away that I will become a 3 game member. And just go to games against interstate teams. Life changes and that is the way it goes.

I'm confident we'll win at least one flag in the next 10 years. Multiple flags is more likely than none IMO.

Love your confidence Fifty-5 I used to think that way all through the 70's 80's and 90's sadly the MFC have beaten that confidence out of me. A good team I will agree with but the no flag tradition will live on.

This is a more talented group of players, all coming through together than we've had in any of the previous unsuccessful periods.  We don't have any critical players near retirement, Jetta is important but he should have at least 2 good years so there's time to grow or import a replacement.  We've got a contested and attacking style that is designed to win finals - I think our good sides in the past haven't played a Grand Final winning style - e.g. too soft in 2000, not attacking enough in 1988.

It's true that some sides who have an era don't win the flag e.g. St.Kilda 2009-10, the Crows 2005-6, maybe the Dogs 1997-99, but generally very good teams that contend for an extended period win somewhere.

Currently Richmond have at least a couple more years in the frame. GWS should win multiple flags in the next 5 years - if they don't they'll join the 3 teams above.  The other teams placed similarly to us are the Dogs and Brisbane.  We'll have to beat at least 3 of that set to win a flag in the next 5-8 years.

If everything goes right next year to the same degree it went wrong this year then we can win it in 2020.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
