I forgot Green and Yze so I will drop Jurrah and G.Lovett

Aaron Davey stiff, team needs a crumber.

Bit early to be calling Brayshaw a 1 club player.

I have to agree. I'm not questioning the loyalty of any of our current players but they may just be one dissatisfied with a contract away from being a marquee signing at another club.

Most likely they will be one club players but a team like this should be reserved for past players. Just my 2 cents.

Both Cordner and Stynes won a Brownlow as s ruck. As much as I love Max, not sure he’s the starting ruck.

2 All Australians 4th in the brownlow. He's a better ruck than Stynes, how tall was Cordner never saw him play I expect he'd be too small to play in the ruck now.

Like the team but think the only current player you could really include would be Jones. I’m not expecting them to leave but way too early to put Oliver, Viney, Gawn and Brayshaw

I'd drop Viney from this team and place Johnson on the HFFlk, ..... ah, oohh, mumble ... too hard to select or leave players out. Why can't we pick of Best 35 Players, instead? G Lovett was a ball magnet and very attacking in his disposal ... nope, too hard to pick such a team.... sorry. They all look good on this offering but each could be manipulated ...

Careful with that argument. Gary Hardeman was 187 cm...he'd be too small to play CHB now.

You should also make the point that (I presume) you're only picking players you saw play. Otherwise there's a huge group of Premiership players missing from your squad who just might be good enough to get a game.

In support of this; I would think that Hardeman was so talented, attacking and valuable at CHBack - regardless of his height coz he had the build and a phantastique leap at the ball with vice-like marking skills (never saw him drop one) - that he would be up there alongside or ahead of any of the very talented CHBacks that we have ever had in any team. Just on more recent flashbacks, he was far better, for example, than the very creditable likes of Ingerson and Wight - and perhaps, on a par with the young Neitz when he played at CHBack - albeit a totally different type of player and role between the ages. No kidding!

Brett Lovett?

Adem Yze?

Brad Green?

Aaron Davey?

Nathan Brown?

How someone like Liam Jurrah gets a guernsey in this 'side' over some of the above is criminal.  Not to mention others getting a gig who haven't even finished their careers yet.

In order for this to make sense, I suggest that the names be restricted to those who have played since 1987, the first year of our resurrection after 1964.

Should also exclude current players but struggling to find replacements for Jones, Oliver, J Viney, Jetta, TMac and Max.

Consider Obst, Davey, Yze, Green and then run out of names. So many ex players played elsewhere.

Liam Jurrah might have been a shooting star but he was still a star. Cat like movement and radar sharp anticipation plus he could mark and kick goals. Whether or not he deserves to be in this squad is a real question.

Brett Lovett is a must. (He didn't play a senior game at dorks) The best hbf I have seen in 30 years. In for S Febey who would not complain.

Gary Hardeman was also a champion but played before 1987. Otherwise a certainty even though he was only 187. Leaves Neitz as the standout for for chb.

I've got him in the imports because he was at the dorks.

Neitz would be FF

Viney replaces Jones in the middle and Yze goes to the pocket

Reckon Flash would be better off HBF than Febes

You underrate Febes a little, Pennant.  He was a terrific HBF in his day.  Flash is a must in the side, though - preferably in a forward pocket, feasting on the crumbs that Neitz, Ox, Lyon etc get him.

I do remember him Wise tough call but Flash's ball use when he moved to the backline was a thing of beauty

5 KPF's and no crumber up forward. Horrific.

Robbo and Lyon can play small Green as well. Yze can play forward as can Flower and Davey is in the side.

The side really reads.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
