This one has got to be mine for similar reasons.
I've got 3 kids, 15 down to 11years old, its been some terrible curse but we hadn't seen a win live since Bailey was coaching.
Whatever game I took them to, we'd get done.
Didn't matter who we played.
Makes for a long 7hr round trip lemme tell ya.

I took them to the ANZAC and Queens Birthday games last year to let them experience a large crowd at the G as most of the one we've watched have only been half full at best or at the soulless Etihad.
I asked my young bloke who's 13 after the Queens Birthday game what he thought of the noise the big crowd makes.
He said "Yeah, but it's always the other teams."
And he was right, we'd watched 'em all run over us.
My youngest daughter had never actually seen a win live.
Broke my heart as they've had it tough in the school yard them kids.

Took them to the Elimination final and not only was the crowd mostly Melbourne supporters for a change.
It was us doing the damage.

We were also in Mitch Hannans pocket and he put boot to ball right in front of us.
The noise and the sea of raised fists in the air when it went through was something to behold.
I can still see the look on my kids beaming faces.
Un forken real .... The monkeys off the back.

For me there are a number of memorable wins. 2000 QF against the Blues, 2000 PF smashing the Roos and knowing we're heading into a granny, 2006 EF, obviously the Weagles win and then subsequent GWS demolition where we could celebrate making the finals for the first time in 12 years among fellow Demon tragics, last years EF & SF.

 

But the one that takes the cake for me has to be our first win in 2008 after being down by 50+ points at half time and 30+ points at 3/4 time against the Dockers. There were few supporters there that day, but wow we made some noise (when James McDonald kicked a long kick forward out of the centre to bronx cheers was memorable that day too).

They were a pretty handy side at that time and rarely lost at the Gabba.  Beating them on their home deck would have been a huge win for most sides at the time.

2. QB 2017 - similarly, Jack Watts strolling past us into the forward pocket to ice the game. Huge noise behind us from the Punt Rd end (I'll never forget that one).

3. Me and my boy went to Gold Coast for a boy's weekend in 2016, we kicked 16 goals in the second half even though it was close at half time. I can't remember us ever kicking 16 goals in a half. Great weekend away.

I was there on the GC that weekend, doing the same thing with my old man as well.  Went to the Southport Sharks ground earlier in the day and watched Aussie Wonermerri play for the NT Thunder before heading to Carrara to watch our mighty Demons.  Had a few quite frotties in one of the great casual beer garden areas around the Carrara ground prior to the game before watching the sun set over the grandstands and then watching the big game unfold, it was a great experience all round.

It was at a stage of our Roos era when we were capable of winning games, but we were still playing with that quite defense style and hadn't thrashed a side to that point.  The Suns were on a bit of a role at that point in time having won their first 5 or so on the trot and the game was pretty tight up till half time.  We were on top of them in general play, but couldn't put it on the scoreboard.  A couple of quick goals to Jack Viney after half time (including one from a sublime Gawn tap down, being a sign of things to come) and we had the game on our terms as you highlight for the rest of the second half.

Big Maxy played a pretty good game that day, Hunt had a bit of a breakout game as did James Harmes, who racked up a ton of possessions, tackles and walked away from the night with a rising star nomination - another sign of great things to come.

And to make that Footscray win just that more heartwarming was they were coached by a young Mick Malthouse who was just developing into full arrogance. Afterwards Mick commented that he didn’t think Melbourne supporters knew how to get to the Western Oval! We certainly did that day and we owned that outer wing

I was the designated driver for the little brother (who ironically enough is Collingwood) and his Melbourne and Geelong supporting mates initially. They had snaffled a corporate box at Shellshocked and for whatever reason, I decided not to go.

I decided to ultimately go and tried to get a seat with them but there was confusion as to whether I could get tickets to the box or if I could just get regular seating. As the box was full, I ultimately had to sit with the punters. I didn't even have my scarf as I was instructed that I couldn't wear it in a Geelong corporate box (which I wasn't sitting in anyway).

Geez it felt bloody weird but in a good way. Most trips there were basically over by half time at which point it was a case of going through the motions as to whether we would earn an honorable loss or if it was car/garage/hose time. When we finally got over the line, the Cat supporters were very gracious and congratulated me (not that I'd done anything!)

1990 against the druggies. Special win that one. Other one was recent against the eagles in 2017. The win against Adelaide was special last year as we were coming off the Geelong humiliation.

That 2017 Eagles game was such a great turning point in the development and revolation that is Tommy Mac as a key forward.  I think he had probably put together a fee decient games as a forward to that point, but remember him and Peddo slotting through a number of great long goals from 40-50m out to help get us over the line with that win.

When Tommy snapped that goal in the final stages, it was a moment of pure elation.  So many times in the recient past had we had games stolen from us at the death, it felt so bloody awsome being on the right side of the ledger of a game like that.

Wasn’t old enough to remember, but as my dad keeps telling it, the wins against the Hawks 2 weeks in a row back in 1990 (which was simply unheard of at the time) the first being the last home and away game, the next in the opening round of the finals, must’ve felt pretty special.

further to that the extra week off after the eagles drew their final and had to replay it the following week...........how did we not win the flag in 1990 FFS. But alas this is the most heartwarming thread

Absolutely...  Gave them a 7 goal head start in the first quarter too. From memory they hadn't lost at the Gabba for over a year.

From memory we win by 21 points, 11 goal turn around was unbelievable. I remember the lady sitting next to me 20 mins into the first quarter saying "you all didn't come here just for this"..... Bloody oath we did

Chirping opposition fans always make me smile.

My personal favorite was when we knocked over Essendon in 2014 which featured Salo's game winner. We had some peanut Essendon fan making jokes about the snow and range rovers for all of the first half. Needless to say, he became very inconspicuous at the end of the game as he beat a hasty retreat back up the race. ?

There was the one match against Collingwood away where we were missing most our starting midfield and had half a dozen or so players on debut - can't remember when exactly, some time around the start of 2019 perhaps - overcame a slow start and really poor audio for a truley gutsy win. Brought a tear to the eye.

3 monster games in a row.

Hawks our nemesis, was like climbing Everest twice in a row,  IMO.

 

If it was against another club, other than the Hawks, I think we would have gone thru with it.

 

Wins over the Hawks back then, took everything we had within ourselves. very sapping.

Vic Park early 90s. Only kicked 2goals in last quarter. Sean Wight and Andy Lovell. Both in time on. Yarra Falls end. Got up by three points. 

Got out alive. 

Think it was last time we ever played there. 

Same same Carlton’s last ever game at Princes Park. 

Big Nick carried the ball off held high. We stil got the four points.

Saturday, 15 September.  forced week off, due to the drawn final.

We played the team above us, twice in 5 weeks...  and also in the same bracket,  played the team immediately below us (Hawks) back to back matches. 

Then we had that unexpected week off...  because of the Pies v Eagles drawn match..

It was the toughest run, imv.

For me it is two finals we played against the Blues. 1994 and 2000. I got so much pleasure from beating them against the odds.

final round 1987 against the Bulldogs for sure .Drama all day- Gary Lyon breaking his leg, watching Glenn Lovett and Sean Wight drive us into attack time after time and listening at the end on the tranny(meant transistor in those days)as Jason Dunstall kicked the 2 matchwinners for Hawthorn.What A day !

1964 the best victory of all time for mfc.also early 1980s at waverly against dogs never forget Ginter going full bore at their bloke at chf knock him over kicks the goal wins the game,great courage

• 1989 Elimination Final - my first game
• Round 2, 1998 - the year I got back into footy after a couple of years of teenage sooking. We went about 45 points up, North got back within a goal, we held on to win and I was back in love with footy
• 2000 Semi Final with the wild last quarter comeback against the Blues
• R18, 2004 when we hit the top of the ladder after beating Hawthorn. It was a rubbish performance that should have pointed to the rubbish that followed over the next five weeks but the glee on our fans when the ladder was shown with us on top was beautiful.
• The Essendon win in 2012 when I was so tense I couldn't walk down the stairs of the Ponsford for about 20 minutes
• Most of the wins 2012 - 2017
• Part one and two of the 2018 finals series

I agree with you on this one, 

 

I live oversees and don't get back often. I was in town that weekend to be the best man at a wedding. Had a great night at the weeding the night before, and was picked up (from out side a bridesmaid house) by my father to go to this game. Feeling very seedy through the first half, I had to convince my dad (and myself) to stay. What a come back. Daveys goal, Aussie with the sealer, It was was a very special weekend 

The 2018 win in West Coast. It truly signaled the end of this most recent dark period.
