I can't comprehend why we keep allowing / instructing our key forwards to lead to the same spots. Yes, a clash of heads is a total accident and completely unavoidable in a contact sport, but that particular incident wouldn't have happened if they were leading in different directions. You never see Darling and Kennedy in the same areas.

You have to be taking the [censored] with this post.. surely?

i thought he only got a one-year deal with us?

if not, then i guess he'll be with us further into his career, but his concussions have clearly become a big concern...

Re KK

our contracts thread shows KK signed until the end of 2021.

Must admit this surprised me when I looked it up a few weeks ago as I thought we had offered him a one year deal.

With both him and AVB on the perennial injury list we start somewhat behind the proverbial eight ball.

yeah, me too

don't forget joel smith as well!

Does anyone have any legit info as to where AVB is at?

and you can add Stretch and Tim Smith onto the injury prone list.

It really does have an impact on team stability when you have 5 players on the injury cusp

I've seen him out on Gosch's kicking the footy a bit lately. At the end of training. Misson said he had resumed running about a week ago, but nothing more than that. The decision to re-sign him and not allow him to go home to NSW seems like one that has backfired. It appears unlikely we will see him again

On July 16th Misson said:

“Vanders has put together five or so sessions now,” Mission said.

“We’re looking to start to increase his volume a little bit, but his timeframe is yet to be confirmed.”

It smells of "we have NFI and his foot is chronically cooked. We probably should have offloaded him to Sydney, but here we are. We don't reckon he will get back, but we are forced to keep him on the list now".

Not 100% sure on reliability of info, but apparently Sam Weideman's injury from the weekend is a lot worse than expected and he could be done for the year. More related to injury impact rather than concussion as such.

The photo of him just after the incident indicates he was in a very bad way.

Is that the correct phrasing? Wasn't it the other way around, in that if he had wanted to go we were prepared to facilitate the move with vandenBerg being the one who decided that he wanted to stay?

As I and others have been at pains to point out this is plain wrong and to be honest is a really unhelpful narrative to be pushing as a dees fan. Why? Because it is wrong.

You made that assertion a fee weeks ago and I posted the link of the article from may with the games missed by best 22 through injury ladder. I'm not sure if you read it but it showed we were hit hardest at that stage by a big, big margin. And things have got much worse since then. If that ladder was done now we would be so far ahead of second it is not funny.

And as noted by wrecker45 the injury issue has to be seen in context of our shocking preseason and resulting lack of a strong fitness base (by the by the tigers had a great preseason, as did not coincendally all the teams in the top 5. Saints didn't and have struggled all season. Go figure). Caro should stick to footy politics if she doesn't understand that.

Sure, debate the actuall impact of a poor preseason and injury. But please don't misrepresent how bad both have been for the dees. As I say it is an unhelpful narrative and just feeds all those lazy footy media people who love to reinforce such myths.

Great post. How people can't see this as the primary reason for this seasons woes beggars belief.

There is a process for medically based retirements. It requires the approval of the AFL. The advantage is that the pay out is treated favourably under the salary cap.

Sydney may try to run this angle with Buddy's retirement which could cloud the waters for other applicants this year.

Just double-checking the acronym meaning. TBC means ‘To Be Continued’ right?

Melbourne’s Neville Jetta heading for further surgery on his knee. Will miss the rest of the season

Wow.. just wow..

wow our medical/high performance team truly are a joke....

Watch Melk come out of the game on the weekend with "awareness" in the foot and it ends up being a further fracture and career ending.

Another complete and utter [censored] up.

Why the [censored] did they bring him back for a dead season? Is Melksham another unfit time bomb ready to blow up a foot again?

I have no words for the stupidity of this club sometimes.
