Lol.

I love that people still think Tyson is worth keeping and believe he is best 22.

The success that a team has over a season is greatly influenced by the 'quality' of the 'bottom 6' players and the 'quality' of the next 3 or 4 who replace those who get injured.

Our 'bottom 6' this season were 'good' players. Our next 4 were 'OK'. This might not be the case next season if we lose Hogan, VandenBerg, Tyson and Kent.

We're yet to see who will land at the club.

It might be worth holding off on that call just yet.

You think? Maybe.

I think they have no problem winning the ball, they just need mods who run both ways.

Demonland might have some

I thought he was out of contract for some reason but I see he is actually contracted until 2019.

I'd be surprised if another club wanted him.

Freo will be looking for mids.

Tyson and Pick 33 to Carlton for Pick 24 and 25?

Premiership window is open now. No room for players who won't help us hoist that cup.

If he can find more opportunities elsewhere and the compensation is suitable I see no reason to hold onto him.

I wish him well if he moves.

I feel like you’re over valuing Tyson a little there. I suspect Tyson might be worth about that pick 35 mark. So really it’s 33,35 -24,25

though Tyson and our 2019 first round pick for those two might be more fair assuming it’s pick 15-18

I don't believe we can trade our 2019 1st rounder as we have traded our last 2 1st rounders.

I'd have Tyson on par with Jones and that's probably being a little kind to Jones. If Jones wasn't captain and a loyal servant of the club he'd be a fringe player next year. As it is, I think the club has some tricky moves to make in regards to him.

We certainly can't play Lewis, Jones and Tyson in the one team outside of the centre square. They're all simply too slow. But all are contracted for next year. But at least Tyson has age on his side.

Despite the numbers going off the list this off season, I suspect we'd still do a deal on Tyson if we could get one.

I thought we had actually specifically sought permission to do just this...trade that pick. Must admit I dont know the answer..I just presumed we could.

I await enlightening

Tyson is frustrating at times and for some strange reason, his turnovers stand out as being worse than others. But he gets heaps of the footy and keeps going all day.

Looking into 2019 I can't see him in our best 25 so I can see why his manager is making him a public talking point. But I would be keeping him. 2 midfield injuries and in he comes.

We have to use one every few years I believe so if we get one for this year we can potentially trade it

I have no issues trading out Tyson, and think it would likely suit all parties. Carlton, Essendon & Hawthorn would all be potential suitors IMO.

More concerned about Vandenberg potentially leaving. In fact if Vandenberg were to leave along with Tyson, I hope the club considers taking a punt on Nathan Freeman as a DFA so we have a mature bodied mid ready to go with some potential upside.

I'd personally want to keep him as depth/fringe, when he's playing as an extractor he's pretty decent but as a winger (where he seemed to be when Viney returned) he doesn't have the disposal or decision making to be damaging enough. In fact is anything he fluffs kicks that end up hurting us.

Still if we can facilitate a trade that'll help us improve then lets do it.

Your hatred for Jones insane.

I agree, while fringe players aren't going to get all the headlines having decent quality depth goes a long way to success.

I disagree. I think we played Tyson over Fritsch because he is experienced and was considered to be more 'finals ready'.

He admitted he was nervous about being dropped and his three finals were all extremely underwhelming.

His manager has now come out suggesting he'd be open to a trade.

Clearly, and I mean clearly, he is not considered best 22 when we have a full squad available.

He’s not best 22 with a full squad for sure but he’s high up the list of next in line. Tyson is super frustrating, but we actually don’t have a lot of midfield depth and could be exposed with a couple of injuries.

I don't hate Jones. I just don't rate him higher than a B grader in his prime.

If you take his body of work this year, it's pretty clear he's on the cusp of the 22. I think most would agree with that.

I thought his first half of the year when Viney was  out was really strong and I expect him to poll pretty well in the B+F over that time. Tackles, goals, clearances, low clangers.

Once he was relegated to the wing he struggled and particularly in the finals when he wasn't given any time or space. He's certainly fringe heading in to next year but I'm actually keen to see how he goes and where he plays. Time for him to strip a bit of weight and embrace an outside role be it wing, half back or half forward.

Yep been saying it for the last 5 or so years. People dont take honesty very well on these 1 sided forums, but to me he's necer been any better that a straight out B-Grader (not even a B+,just a B).He has been loyal to the Dees through poor times but i see that more a case of no other club realy wanting him, over him just sticking solid with us.We do have a conundrum coming up because even now i see him as a fringe player but next year i think he drops back further & how do we handle dropping him?

Hes never been quick, can't take an overhead mark, isnt a great kick, gets caught holding the ball every game because his ability to evade is poor. Not saying he us garbage but there is a reason most other supporters dont rate him & only see him as a solid toiler

Hawthorn don't recruit players who kick like Tyson does

I must be in the minority then. He is steady and solid, a great leader and heart and soul of this group. He brings 100% each game and has probably the least variance between best and worst games of anyone on our team.

This is the kind of rubbish thinking that got Junior pushed out of the club. We could see the results of that shallow thinking play out for years.
