@WERRIDEE, did you read the article? Do you understand his position and context? Do you still have the same opinion?

Yes he was almost finished due to his injuries he owes the club.

VDB to Swans

Newman to Roos

Preuss to Dees

Maybe a swap of 3rd or 4th round picks with Dees to get the better of the swaps!

Players that tackle and play as hard as Vanders are worth their weight in gold. The old cliche they make others walk taller holds true based on my limited experience as a small, light framed footballer. A couple more like Vanders in the team would be more than welcome. I'll hate to see him traded, and the club should do everything it can to convince him to stay.

He doesn't "owe" the club anything. He's played out his contract, if he leaves we will get something in return. That's the way it works. Get a grip man. That sort of talk is purile.

If the FD are cool with him leaving, does he owe you your emotional investment in him still?

Why would the club be cool with it?

BS He's played a handful of games in 2 years we are likely to get very little for him due to this. HE OWES US SELFISH IMO

Because they're a mature organisation and understand that investment in people doesn't guarantee them a return in this particular climate.

More practically, they understand that a player needs to look after themselves long term......and then there is the humanistic side of...bloke has lost his father, practicalities of being close to home etc etc...

AND,  your opinion is fine that you think he is selfish for that.. I just wanted to check I had that correct.

He’s actually from the South Coast where his family is and where he lost his dad last year and moving to Sydney would make it much easier to visit the inherited business he is running. You don’t know him, you don’t know his situation and you need to show some empathy.

As I said earlier, empathy is granted but if the MFC does not get compensated sufficiently then I will take it as a sign that Vanders is not attached the club that has helped him through a tough time and really should be subject to criticism. He needs to make sure there is a deal that benefits us if we are showing him compassion.

you reckon that is fair enough?

His father died in Tathra according to the reports.I know Tathra and the South Coast very well-go there each year from Melbourne. If Vanders moves to Sydney I can’t see how that is easier to go to Tathra from Sydney to look after his father’s business.Because he could fly from Melbourne to Merimbula , hire a car and drive to Tathra in an hour.

He ha been injured for the better part of two years...

No, I don’t hold him accountable for the compensation Mahoney and co. can procure.

The South Coast is generally more accessible from Sydney and I don’t think it is outrageous to relocate for the reasons he would relocate for.

And that is all I will say, this is deflating; judging the motives of people based on so little and asking for the kind of loyalty you wouldn’t ask of a colleague or a friend.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

    TRAINING: Wednesday 15th January 2025

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    TRAINING: Thursday 9th January 2025

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
