After the saints and swans game I thought we were gone, to now be playing off in a prelim is just insane win or lose next week I couldn’t be prouder of this club right now

Enjoyed this one from the couch. I was doubly happy when the game ended. Firstly because we won. Secondly because I wouldn’t have to keep hearing Bruce pronounce Salem as “Sahlum”.

Interesting that every man and his dog was texting me tonght compared to hardly any last week. They can sense we’re coming ??

Also, a bit of Spargo love please. Not big numbers, but all of them seem to be important numbers, and great to see him getting on the end of a couple.

everyone here bangs on about him being dropped. clueless. if vince is fit and ready to go, get rid of Tyson. Please.

Felt so different at the ground to last week. Last week was emotional and a celebration, this was more like a difficult job at the coal face, done with minimum of fuss, and are rostered on for next week.

felt like that on the couch too!

I am over the moon!!! I have nothing constructive to say. But I did have some tears tonight. Go you [censored] redlegs!!!!

We have become a serious football team.  We can win classy, we can win ugly.  We can meet a challenge head on, wrest control and go away with it.  We have a steely self-belief that will never be denied!  I love you Demons!

He was clean and decisive, dont think he wasted a possession. Just knows where to be

Ok, all wrapped in my demons jumper and going to get a good nights sleep. Great win. Night guyz. We did it!

Channel seven showing the highlights to the tune of Hells Bells.  Love it.

I notice there's more idiotic noise about Oliver going down easily to get a free, but nobody seems to be talking about Sicily hurling himself out of marking contests the moment he feels contact.  I wonder why that is?

The two free kicks in the last quarter for taking the legs were disgusting. Not sure I have seen worse free kicks in a final ever.

Just keep on rolling boys...we are on our way!

In spite of many mistakes we lead for 90% of the game. Won it and the Hawks can collect their mothballs and commiserate with those other has beens down by Corio bay

I cant believe we are one game away from the chance to break a 53 year old drought. My litmus was to m ake the 8. We were asking if Goody was the right man. The media said a few weeks ago we have not beaten anyone. So sweet to beat this mob.

Giddy up we may go all the way.

Just an incredible game. We were sat in front of the Hawks standing area - an arrogance of Hawks.

Such great character in this team. As others have said, it is the future for these young guys that is so exciting.

Best game I've been 2 all year. Will put us in great stead 4 Preliminary. We kept them goalless in the second,  went away from them in the 3rd & withstood their challenge in the final quarter. Great resolve. Tom McD is a gun so to is Brayshaw & Viney wills himself 2 contest after contest.I thought umpires gave them an armchair ride.

I need a bigger bath...

Still angry about the umpires.

Huge love for the team, nothing was given for free, those blokes have earned it. Votes are super hard. Loved Nev/Hibbered/Frost/Omac, our defence tonight was huge. and Tmac/Weid ice water in their veins.

Viney is a beast (some of the stuff he did in a he last quarter was awesome) and Harmes kept Tom Mitchell to 24 disposals which is a massive win.

Well done boys.

100% and his 50m goal was pivotal!

Interestingly in the presser - Goodwin was asked about the head free's - he dispatched the controversy to the boundary, by saying from where he sat - they looked like there was contact below the knees.

Charm offensive for the umpires...

Tell me WCE are not $hitting themselves, best travelling team is coming to them with nothing to lose and that loves their shape of ground. Perth will be quiet after 2 x 90k crowds.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
