There isn't a supporter base that I despise more. As dirty as I feel saying this, if we lose this week, I really hope that Hawthorn go over there and knock them off.

Could technically fly in, fly out to save on accommodation costs...

One week at a time!

Thanks to the Melbournefc Insta account!

It is like a cheesy Wiggles photo. I love it too!

Have to say the winner of Collingwood v GWS has been screwed over, having a 6 day break over a team with a 2 week break is a massive disadvantage. AFL clueless again.

I think the winner of our game having a 8 day break isn't necessarily and bad thing, still have 7 days until he GF.

Yeah an 8 day break is probably perfect. I think having the comp wide bye and then another bye is actually a slight disadvantage.

We have definitely fallen on the better side of the draw. Hopefully we can make use of it!

Absolutely.  If they win they can be back at Tullamarine by Midnigh AEST.  Thus sleeping in their own beds.

For once a good call under the circumstances by the AFL.

Could easily apply to the Poos and Wees too.

Absolutely. Eddie let loose over it on the MMM interview before Roosy and Jones were in. As much fun as it is watching/listening to Ed explode, he was spot on.

Auld did not handle it well. I mean he did, but he didn't.

TA "I understand what you're saying, I do, but we've landed in different spots."

EM: "You've landed in the wrong spot"

I just hope there is less glare compared to when we played them over there last time (for either Hawthorn or Melbourne).

It’s exactly the same start one as our round 22 win at Optus.

If you can recall, the team got royally screwed over and the plane was delayed by over 3 hours coming home that Sunday night.

i won't tell a lie. This line from Sam McClure's (who cannot stand for some reason) article on the  prelim timing gave me a bit of a pause:

The AFL is set to fixture its first afternoon preliminary final in seven years to ensure either Melbourne or Hawthorn can return home on Saturday night and have as much time as possible to prepare for the grand final, should they beat the Eagles.

Yikes.

Why not stay the night and fly the next morning. After the win I slept soundly in my hotel bed and was refreshed for the flight home the next morning. Mind you I didn't play and didn't need to train or back it up the next week.

It’s a good question... I travel a lot for work and struggle to be fully rested when staying an extra night versus getting home late and hopping into my own bed.

I guess it’s done to last minute nowadays.

Does anybody know a way to get a ticket to the prelim IF we do make it?

My situation is that I am an MCC member, and pay the extra $90 for the MFC membership on top - which includes no game day access, so I assume I won't have access to any finals tickets IF we make it.

that will entitle you to participate in the club allocation. Presumably there are certain categories that are guaranteed tickets and then it goes to all club members such as yourself. I am in the same position as an AFL member with club support.

I have no idea what the club allocation is but I could not imagine it being less than 10k. Now realistically how many members will go to Perth. I think it will be the travel difficulties that knock out most of us.

Of course you have to pay for the match ticket but given airfares north of $1k it's not the ticket costs that will hurt.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
