Heaps, I can see at least 15 ? and they are all high rankings AFL staff

2 goals 6 behinds for Sydney in nearly 3 quarters of footy and not one “ How did we lose to Sydney?” post.

Impressive!

That said, Melbourne has shown this year that interstate travel and hostile crowds hold no fear for this team.

Agree entirely, though I am absolutely certain that instructions from HQ,  +/- intimidation from the crowd, +/-  maybe some brown paper bags will guarantee that the umpiring will not be equitable like it was when we beat them over there recently.

Never thought I would say this but Comon the Pies!!

I feel dirty but I agree.  (Maybe something to do with getting excited by a Weideman which couldn’t even be considered when we last held the Cup).

What idiot signed off on these two guernseys? Can barely tell burnt orange and red apart on the AFL app (albeit lower quality than watching on TV). Shouldn't the Giants be wearing their white away strip?

What idiot? Who is the head of AFL?

A handful by what one can see on TV, and who knows, some of those wearing orange may just be Irish Protestants.

I’ve got nine and a half fingers, and when I counted, I had a couple left over.

There’s a ripple of polite applause each time they score, if that helps answer your question.

I was thinking the same

Failed scoreboard pressure when we dominated early.

Thankfully the ? did not take advantage yesterday

For all they do well..the Hawks played a less than brilliant strategy... against a marauding team...in the WET !!

Strange stuff up by Clarko really.

We'll beat them next week ;)

I wouldn't get too confident yet.

Rumour is next week's guest on Open Mike is Garry Lyon. And if Mike can't finish us off then and there, he has Cameron Schwab saved up for later.

I’m at the game (if you could call it that)... I can’t recall being at a more boring game. Nothing like finals footy... where’s the frenetic pace, where’s the risk taking?  If Buddy doesn’t wake up soon, the Swans season is over.

That's their problem ... only time they look like scoring is when it goes near Buddy, and that's not often.

Meanwhile ... I'm enjoying this new game called "watch the other finalists and imagine how we'd go against them". It's a lot of fun.

Sydney loves to run over the mark .... got away with it all day against us.

Nice to see them humiliated as they exit

Well played GWS! Losing to us R23 so they can go to the SCG in an elimination where Sydney suck.

Sydney and Geelong out of the finals in the first week.

The tide is turning at last.

Frankenstein really relies on great delivery.  Cut out their mids and he is bloody near useless.

How many more years on his 99 year lease?  Looks past it really, and not particularly interested.

How many Premierships have the Swans won since Buddy joined them?

It's a lot better than the game of "Watch all the finalists and shudder at how much they'd smash us by" that I've been playing for the last dozen years.

Zac Jones nothing like his brother - faux tough with cheap snipes but doesn’t put his head over the ball when it counts.

Damn it, Sydney just managed to score more goals than Weideman.

How embarrassing were the Swans?  4.6.30 losing to 10.19.79.  WOW! 10 scoring shots to 29.

So, two recent AFL 'heavyweights' now out of the finals race.

Up to us to eliminate the remaining 'heavyweight' next week.  Very confident we will get the job done.

OMG that song ?

Surely more than sufficient reason that they should never ever play a GF.

Blloody awful.

Porridge game IMO, hope the next match is watchable.

That was definitely a different Giants side... Glad they are on the other side of the ledger (until the GF of course).

Swans were flattered by the scoreboard... probably should have been over at half time like our game should have last night.

Now for the battle of the Birds in the West.

PS. I can see a new rule at the end of next season about use of the boot to fend off a player... not a good look

I have said all along that the filth and hawks out in strait sets. GWS will beat the filth next week. Oh and we must win as well.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
