I watched FC last night, and was surprised by the opinion in the dot points in the opening, considering i don't think we actually over celebrated... maybe we did cause channel 7 cut about 30 seconds after the game for me.

But... Judd clarified on the show, saying, we should save the celebration for when we actually win in September, which he was quite bullish about us doing. Giving us a clip in a sense, but he thinks we go deep. So maybe save the outrage. Big picture call Caro

Chris Judd clearly lacks any semblance of empathy if this is anything to go by. To be fair, you can't really be expected to get it if you haven't been emotionally invested in the club these past few years. Current players get it, fans get it, even a good chunk of past players get it (that Schwartz video nearly brought a tear to the eye). Judd doesn't. Whatever.

Having lived through the euphoria of '87 (and having documented it in various other posts over the years), I still reckon those six weeks and the two finals are the greatest sustained football excitement I have ever experienced. Having said that, the sheer relief, joy and subsequent collective celebration following the siren on Sunday comes a pretty close second. Interestingly, in '87 there was always no tomorrow, with one mistake bursting the dream - and as we know the dream was finally shattered on that day out at Waverley. Today however, there is a "tomorrow" and if Judd's point is that we have gone too hard and got ahead of ourselves, then I think he forgets that we still have one more game before the big stuff starts. We could very easily stuff up on Sunday against GWS, (very MFC!!) but does it really matter? Yes, we are still in with a mathematical chance for top four but does it really matter? Unlike '87, at this moment, I sense that our boys fear no one - they will be happy to play anyone in the 8, anywhere, anytime. The celebrations have been magnificent! As someone has posted earlier, unless you have lived it Mr Judd, you can never have the last 12 years explained to you. At the very least, if we have a downer against GWS - so be it. We are still in it and I am confident that in September we will be having a real crack! How long will it last? 1 week? 2 weeks? Dare to dream everyone! Go Dees. Sorry Mr Judd, I have been inspired by the last 48 hours - the spirit of not only the Dees faithful, but the football world as well. Perhaps there is message for Gill and Hocking as well. Leave the game alone!!

Well put CMWYW, my take on Judd was that it was nothing more than verbal click bait.  The way the other panelists responded confirmed it for me.  To be honest as a TV personality he makes a great ex-footballer.  His wife is a far better performer than him

I'm saying that after being in that thread that its funny how so many people will defend that guy if someone says boo about him but be so quick to rip into a champion of the game and act like idiots when he has an opinion that they don't 100% agree with god forbid.

Yeah, I know what you were saying.  In a similar vein I could say how could people defend Watts when someone says boo about him but are so quick to rip into the Queen for being a monarchist when I'm a republican.  My point:  no need to bring Watts into this discussion whatsoever.

Carlton celebrated too hard when they recruited Judd.

They didn't have any money left to celebrate

On further thought, Chris Judd probably has a bit of an aversion to over-celebration having begun his career at a club which held Ben Cousins as its talismanic leader and captain, and then he moved to a club where the culture was dominated by Brendan Fevola.

I still think he overreacted, but I'll accept that his thoughts are sincere and that his main thought is that the Demons are a prospect to hit the finals hard. Maybe he just hasn't had the doubt that the rest of the world has been throwing around? Could even be a fugazi thing. :D

Judd is a [censored]. He wasn’t a champion at Carlton. He can go and take a running jump.

Won a Brownlow and 3 B&Fs in mostly a crap side. Yeah he was.

Bec Judd...TV presenter...kinda of ironic statement because her work on Postcards is pretty ordinary.

Silly statement. I just want to know why it’s ok to be all nice and fuzzy towards Jack but say some of the crap that have been said towards Judd in this thread? Be consistent with your values.

Honestly mate who gives a toss. Pretty sure most people here respect Judd but this is a Dees forum and if people want to tell him to get stuffed then let them.

Don’t worry about Juddy. He will be 6 feet under by 40.  I know I would be if I was married to his missus.

What a joyless human. How much more over the top was that than when we beat Adelaide and Goodwin practically mounted all his assistants?

Back in your cardboard box J**d.

Jack Riewoldt on AFL 360 said he can’t understand why there needs to be negative commentary around celebrations like that after a game when the question was put to him.......12 years.....12 bloody long years of misery.

Lewis added that once on the plane home everything returned to business as usual.

Jack was good tonight. Seemed genuinely glad to see us break the drought and was able to share his own experience. One of the better current players in the media.

Agree with that Layzie, didn’t enjoy Jack so much on the field and that’s even changing now (never thought it would) .....I think he’s been very good on that show in the last couple of years and I liked the part where he said he would love to be the Coleman medalist if it happens this year. A lot of players brush off the question when asked about individual awards but I liked his honesty.

Yeah, provided they collectively mooned the Eagles cheer squad on the way there ... ?

Yeah he didn’t sound stupid either he just talked about how you want to be the best player you can be etc. As a key forward you have to want goals and demand the footy so I’m all for this attitude.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
