It annoys me that Chanel 7 ignores the restart of play at the centre bounce.

After a goal is scored, an add break...   and then all they want to do is show bloody replays...   and talk shyte,  while the game has moved on.

Not showing respect to the game itself....  but only the highlights, of they're choice.

Stop this Craap C-7__    and show our midfielders and rucks doing the centre bounce setups, and then the Bounce/Ruckwork.

Anyone would think CH-7 do not like Ruckmen, and midfielders,  and the bounce itself.

comments anyone?

.

Foxtel. No ads. Have not watched 7 for a couple of years.

Probably a Rupert Murdoch Illuminati ploy to get you to buy Foxtel.

The problem is they have commercial responsibilities but they still want to show replays of the big plays/goals. It's very difficult to do both in the 5-8 second window between returning from the break and the bounce. Personally I think they should just focus on the live play. They have to play ads, otherwise there's no FTA coverage.

Why are you annoyed DV8? The AFL sells it's soul on a five/six yearly basis to the highest bidder who get to call the tunes. Do you really find this surprising?

We miss out on the prep for the ruck duels.   Stuff the replays after the adds.

They're degrading the game and the ruck contests. (putting the live game in a tiny box in the corner of the screen,,, as the bounce happens).

shithouse.

Don't show they're replays then, really simple.

I'm sick of hearing all the special commentators talking shyte.    Whilst the game goes on without commentary.

Yeah not totally disagreeing but I also guarantee you there'll be plenty of people out there saying "why wasn't there a replay of that goal?" Bottom line is they want to show a replay they need to keep it to something quick; just goal, and celebrations.

The reason I have Foxtel (and forfeit eating for 2 days a month is to watch  Footy ad free while it is on AND to see Melbourne play, because Ch7 onl;y know the numbers and players of the big 4 (memberwise in Melb) i.e Cwood,Toiges, Essendon and Carlton. I think they are actually warming to Hawks too, probably because of their Triple Pships.(It has just taken a while for the penny to drop.

Yes, but we're missing the live game, for that.   replays and shyte.

Clever....

Get used to it.

Hopefully, now that we've made finals and we've looked good in almost every prime time game we've played this year, and we're the highest scoring side from 2018, we should find ourselves playing more prime time games in 2019.

Trouble is even if you have Foxtel you are still watching the 7 feed with the 7 commentary team.

I agree with 'DV8', it is so annoying to watch the live centre bounce in a little square when they're featuring a replay.

What really annoys me is all the times they’re just replaying the set shot for goal; not the play prior that led to the shot. Is this the most un-useful thing you can replay?

FOXTEL is your friend. No ad footy and all the most excellent trash TV for when you need to drown your sorrows.

Pretty poor of Ch7 to not even show us the song. FFS it was a massive occasion!

That's not quite right. Most times you have a Foxtel commentary team. Have had Foxtel since first day of broadcasting as I cannot cope with the bias commentary of channel 7. And while I'm at it can someone please explain channel 7's insistence of a "quarterback". Really grates me. It's NOT special Bruce.

If it's a channel 7 broadcast then the best you'll get is half time/full time analysis from fox footy, live commentary will still be seven as they just take the feed.

I prefer fox footy to watch as they focus more on the footy and analysing the game, whereas seven likes to talk about the stories behind the game, the players, the coaches, the boot studders etc. Because they don't have any ad breaks they can also give proper replays to show the build ups and the key moments that created the goal.

David King and Derm can get pretty tiresome at times but usually what they say is pretty on point.

No, if it's the 7 feed unfortunately you always get the 7 commentary...like yesterday's game.

Can't remember going back to the early days of Fox but that's what happens now.

Fox don't overlay their commentary the only thing they will do is on Friday night run their analysis pre game, post game and at half time.

OK, they have too show ads and they have limited time to show a replay and are increasingly squeezing the ball up into a small panel with a confusing last second switch.  Solution - add another 5 seconds to the break between goal and ball-up.  The current time gap was introduced for TV so what if it is made a tiny bit longer.  Won't distress too many at the game.

What I'd really like to see is a wider shot before the bounce so we can see how teams have set up around the square.

Did they have the work experience kids in charge of the cameras yesterday?  Was bloody hopeless at times.

And that bloke that commentated with BT, never ever heard of him before.  Must have been some ring-in from a Perf community radio station or something.  He was as bad as the cameraman.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
