Strewth that has to be 6 weeks or the AFL is compromised massively.

As bad as Buggs hit last year.  But my guess is tribunal will reduce to 2-3 weeks.

No they won’t

it was a King Hit

That was a coward hit by gaff. On a young kid who was standing there minding his own business. Bugg copped it big time but gaff won't.

Yep absolutely

Listening to the SEN call of the Freo game and one of the commentators was trying to find an incident that’s similar to Gaff’s. He came up with the Bugg hit and stated that he got 6.

I believe it was Gossage that replied “ Yes but he had form”.  What form did Bugg have with the tribunal? One fine for interfering with an injured player prior to his only suspension. Incredible, trying to talk it down Gossage you fool.

What a joke the only form bugg had was being a [censored] stirrer

Funny you’ve mentioned that. My brother just said the same thing and I said the hit on Mills is the only thing he’s been suspended for. He may be niggly and a pest but I wouldn’t count that as ‘form’.

Wtf was gaff thinking?? The game is over, finals coming - hit a kid?!?

need to think seriously before recruiting this bloke.

I didn’t it was as bad as buggs. I’d give 4-5 weeks

Looked more of a round side fist to me. But im drunk and only seen distant vision so far.

Im not a big fan of the outcome dictating the penalty

Buggs was graded intentional conduct with high impact to the head.  Hard to see this being different but let’s wait and see

Brayshaw must have said something to him, and Gaff has looked at him and gone Whack!!

Teeth in the Fingernails.

Could change his career

The AFL will introduce a new factor to downgrade the penalty.  That will be some weasel words which amount to 'he's also has the penalty of not getting the Brownlow'.

Broken jaw and surgery for brayshaw. Poor kid. Gaff has to get more than bugg

Could be awkward at west coast with Andrews brother Hamish at west coast and he's just seen a teammate break his brothers jaw.

Wow what an ending to see r20 off. Friday saturday was all about how good the game is, we don't need rule changes how good were the close games and today was all about the thrashings and gaff breaking a players jaw. Gaff may have stolen the thunder from saints, suns and blues who were terrible.

I think more needs to be made from that saints loss. That was a poor effort from them.

[censored] incredible. Bugg clocks someone in the jaw and he's public enemy No.1. Gaff does it and he's the nicest guy you'd ever meet.

Yeas of course. Gaff doesn't do pesky Instagram posts nor is he a 'pest' on the playing field. Its sickening.

Bugg was treated very poorly. Particularly compared to Houli the week before.

Gaff deserves eight weeks.

Much worse than the Bugg hit.

Much worse than Bugg. Six weeks for Bugg always seemed harsh. This has to be more ... 8weeks. In suburban footy it would be a season or worse

It’s similar to Barry Hall, he got 7. Game and players should’ve evolved since then and AFL are “apparently” taking head knocks seriously since that incident. Brayshaw has 4 caved in teeth and a broken jaw and will miss the rest of the season. Should be 8 weeks IMO.

Dog act from Gaff. Just as with Bugg, deserves to be taken to the cleaners for this. Pathetic and disgusting.

Hope Brayshaw is OK. Sounds at this stage like a broken jaw and broken teeth.

Another perfect example of why a red card/send off system is a good idea.

On big footy there are over 6 pages from the WC forum on this. Most think he will get 3 to 4 weeks whilst a minority thinks he will get 5 or more. The majority are dreaming that he might be back for late finals.  I believe 6 will be the minimum as what Bugg got but the injury damage is far worse so could be 8.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
