Sad,   but if we make it 4 losses in a row this week vs Freo it will be clear most of the list doesn't care about finals or success and have no respect for the club or supporters.

I think your anxiety around missing finals and your love of the red and blue and how much it means for you for the red and blue to be in finals to validate your existence - is clouding your judgements towards  some assortment of dudes who happen to be drafted into some red and blue colours and are also striving for the same success...

Good grief - no respect for supporters? don't care about finals?

4 losses in a row is an exemplar of that? Really?

The players don't play for me - they've never met me - nor do they fist pump pre match and go - let's do it for the supporters... that'd be media speak.

You can't tell me or anyone on the forum straight faced that the effort hasnt been there - perhaps our own expectations are misguided of where the group is really at right now - perhaps THAT's what needs to change.

No way known Petty can get a game on that performance when Frosty is absolutely pole axing them in the magoos>

Agree and feel aside from missing Lever, Spargo would have been handy the last two weeks!

@Drunkn167 being rather quite today... no leaks?

Maybe caught an early flight to Darwin?

Not the week for two first games in Kielty & Baker, particularly after Petty last week.

Outs: Petty Tyson Hannan

Ins: Frost Stretch & Garlett or Spargo

All faster than who they are replacing, and am tempted Spargo for Weideman or ANB.

Just because had a poor game doesn't mean every debutant is is going to play poorly.

Keilty has had 4 years in the system and Baker is a pacey wingman exactly what we need. Totally different players to Petty.

they put the simon's selections video up early on youtube and then yanked it down

garlett, spargo, frost and one other (can't remember who) for hannan, petty, weideman, and tyson

If this group do not show up this week and lose, I sense the club should prepare for a hammering from traumatised supporters.

_ playing in Darwin isn't nonsense, but not having a bye the week after is... These two have to work in hand, or it is troublesome.

I'm pushing for us to Bookend Naidoc Week in July,,, in the Alice.

A Friday or Saturday night game in Alice, to welcome Naidoc Week.

And a closing Twilight Sunday match.

... Both games Free2Air .

A fortnight away in JULY in the Territory.

Hopefully its school holidays at the time?  This would be excellent for the players at this time of year, as a freshen,,, up in the warmth.

More power to positive innovative ideas! Yes school holidays commenced Monday 2nd of July through until Friday 19th of July. According to Goody's press conference team are scheduled to arrive today, Thursday and train at Marrara stadium 10:30 am tomorrow morning. Weather has been warm and windy daytime early Gurrulwa perhaps, today winds are more moderate though. Evenings swing back to more like Dinidjanggama with heavy dew forming. Awaiting selection news hopefully skilled footballers like Billy Stretch will get a call up and be on the flight up here. Your top-end correspondent team are both basking in the most pleasant dry season climes awaiting Saturday nights game with anticipation.

One good thing is they have gone smaller which is needed on a slippery deck.

Just for a change !

Could try total silence, now that would be a change.

Fortunately, a win coming up to temper the mood.

Tough on Petty and Weideman to come in and go straight out.

But the replacements are much better suited for the humid/slippery conditions which will favour small and speedy players.

dunno if it was stretch - i was watching and then the vid disappeared as they removed it

ch 7 won't be happy that they've gone early and broken the 6.25pm moratorium on team changes

If not, he should fair dinkum go on strike and request an immediate transfer.

They've done it a few times on different platforms...

Tough on Petty, but he had to go.  The selectors should apologize to the boy for his original selection and tell him that he is not suited to the ground or weather conditions. Any lie will do.  He needs support and encouragement.

Agree Ernest, among the best performed from last Saturday's Casey Demons televised game.

Melbourne is shorter odds at $1.83 to win by 40+ than it is to win by 1-39 (around $2.10).

Will be pleasantly surprised if Jeffy gets a run.  So many logical reasons to do this...but hey... it's footy

Be VERY intrigued if they DO play both Spargo AND Jeffy..have been want ting to see this just about all year..Just have a gut feeling theyd work well of of each other and wouldnt trip over each other either. Frost seems a beyond  "about time"inclusion

I await official team sheet with more interest than I thought Id have this week...tttt

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
