That said, and this is not meant to be knock on hogan, but what i think we lack atm is a player who by force of will drag us over the line.

All great teams have one, sometimes two, such players.

Im thinking of current players like selwood, Dangerfield, dusty, kennedy,  sloane and buddy. Playets that impose themseves on the game and do the extraordinary when most needed.

Thw closest we have is viney, but whilst he will aways give 120 per cent he probably lacks the class.

I would love hogan to be that player. Oliver has the potential to be that player and you'd hope trac also (but it has to be said he would need to go up a level). 

Totally agree mate, has been an issue for some time and one I've been vocal on. I reckon Brayshaw in the guts can turn a game but Goody seems reluctant to keep playing him in there.

Dropping Hogan isn't the answer.

Dermott, as much as a peanut he can come across as, is right. Jess needs to crash the packs and try to get one out on the lead. This crumbing stuff is all types of horrible.

Get him to change that. Simple.

Back him in to respond.... not playing as a deep forward but playing up the ground as I mentioned in my above post. But I’d also back dropping him. Players are ultimately judged by how they perform in finals or in our case playing against better performing sides. The constant beating up on weaker sides by him or the team as a whole count for nothing when we continually lose when challenged. We have the talent to beat anyone this year but we don’t have the collective mindset. On Friday night it was easy to see those that wanted it.

FWIW I think that, in the context of what we lacked on the weekend in terms of skills and run, Tyson’s 16 possession game did not offer value. His possessions didn’t hurt the opposition and his defensive pressure was moderate.

The FD won't even consider dropping him. He kicked 10 goals in two games then had a bad two weeks (happens to young key forwards often). It's clear where he needs to improve. Get some confidence up playing some weaker sides at AFL level to get himself ready for the last tough games.

Never mentioned Petracca's confidence but I agree thats one thing he never lacks which is great. But Jesse not flying for marks and waiting for the crumb doesn't seem like a particularly confident player in those moments by his standards. Jesse is prone to beating himself up and putting unnecessary pressure on himself. I could be wrong.

I’d prefer TMac play permanently FF, but when Hogan is playing deep we need to kick it so he can run on to it, that’s where I believe he most dangerous. Rather than have him camped underneath the high ball every time.

I agree. Not sure if it was that he wasn't timing his runs properly or just poor forward entries (probably both) but if he is out of position I'd still like to see him trying to impact the contest. Whether bodying up someone or drifting across the marking contest as suggested by Cam Mooney.

I simply cannot see what Bernie is offering us on the field at the moment and would be happy to hear anyone’s theories on it.  He is a long way off the pace in mind and body.  

Frost playing as a genuine second tall takes defensive pressure off J.Smith and Hibberd.  

For mine, J.Smith gets another game or two playing a a roaming third tall.  If he’s not up to it, then someone like petty gets a look in.

That would be two forced replacements plus at least another 1 or 2 ,... so could be up to four changes happening!

Four changes should see Frost, Weeds, Stretch and Garlett well and truly coming into the frame!

Frost has been given so many chances over the year, but hasn't taken them. Time to move on and give one of the young fellas (Petty or Keilty) a go.

 

Contrary to the media noise I think the next three games are the biggest for the club and will define our season.

Its dissappointing that we didn’t beat quality teams and put ourselves in the box seat in the last fortnight, but it’s also not unexpected for a young talented team with limited big game experience.

the real test is to make finals. Win the next three and we’re well on our way. Lose any of the next three and it may be 2017 all over again.

we need to flat track bully our way to contention, we’ll only truly see how far our group can go in finals, all the rest is just noise. Plenty o premiership teams have had bad losses during the season, none have come from outside the 8, that’s all that matters.

Can't see Hannan being dropped. Booted 2.3 and his games against the Saints and Pies were worse and he wasn't dropped after those. Garlett would only offer more if he played a la the Lions game, and that was only late in the game from memory.

Tyson, like Vince, appears to be a FD favourite. Vince may hold his spot if used as a tagger. Otherwise he makes way for either Frost or Petty. Weids in for Smith is a monty.

We seem to have a lot of revolving door players ,Tyson in,Tyson out,Frost in,Frost out. Pedo in,Pedo out. All of a sudden we are looking fragile. For now we must dump the two captain policy,Vince has to go.(expiry date last week) . We drastically need Petracca to step and become a champion midfielder,currently we do not have the class. Baker could be given a go.

I thought Tyson was ok, he was part of a midfield that made an improvement of all facets of midfield work on the previous 2 weeks, I thought the whole team performed admirably, just the inside 50 entries were poor and we resorted to bombing it in

Whether any changes are going to occur, who knows, Goodwin has shown all season he will make changes, only change I can see possibly is another tall in defence

It's about giving the team the best chance to win. Hogan's had 2 bad games in an otherwise All Australian year. He's in the top 3 players in the team. Any talk of dropping him is absurd.

Weids for T-Mac i think Bingers.

Smith more likely to stay but no certainty.

Tyson was ok but we needed a small forward.  Maybe Spargo / Bugg for Tyson/Smith? (a week too late)

Frost has only played 2 matches although for many that might suffice!

I don't get the love for Garlett at the moment and drop Hannan? Compare with Hannan playing at the highest level to Garlett VFL
