Every heart beats true, for the Red and the Blue,
And we sing this song to you,
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue.

Watt happens if we trade P23 & 28, for an upgrade ???

Ha... another Lamb to the slaughter.

Watch the Blues pull their collective thumbs out, now they are done with bottom ing out.

well look at their delistings

Mullet, O'Shea, Shaw - 1 year at 2nd club

Wright, Silvagni, Lamb, Kerridge - few years at 2nd clubs

McDaid, Byrne - Irish flops

that leaves two players who the club actually drafted with high hopes for and one was a rookie

Positive changes

Can't believe it took so long!  I'll set them up and you knock 'em down.

Hmmm, after Trade Week it’s almost as if we’ve gone back to work! Never mind, cup week coming up.

Not I ,ET.

I was recently barred from Flinders Island for shooting strays.

They tried to tell me the dogs were native to the Island.

"Not anymore " I replied.

Anyone seen much of Sam McLarty?

Some Pies fans aren't happy he was delisted. A reasonably high drafted young tall getting the chop after only 2 years is unusual.

has a bionic ear... tall marking defensive type probably not one we're after

Black did his ACL in June.

Mav Weller, wow wee...he plays like his eyes are too close together and they’re crossed.

Perhaps Weller's parents are related?

And perhaps they are both related to Jed Lamb?

Will Langford?

What the hell happened to Langford ? A few seasons back he looked terrific and had a likely stellar career.

Need to get another midfielder for depth and help rotations (or the injury curse).  It’s a long year.  Weller,  Sheridan,Partington or Honeychurch all are possibilities.

That's very interesting, and probably a lot to do with Bernie's retirement. It's offset slightly through the trade ins, and the fact Bernie is staying on at the club in some capacity, but it does make a good argument to pick up an experienced player somehow. The problem is the ones up for grabs have very little appeal.

This will take another hit when Lewis retires also so unless our youngsters take another big step up in 2019, we need to be on the lookout for a premium experienced player for end of next year. After that there's only Jones, so let's hope we get where we need to be before that happens.

It’s a relatively meaningless stat. For example get a young star in instead of an old average player and stat gets worse.

True. But how much does leadership impact on the development of that player? It's a hard one to quantify but I reckon there's significant value up to a point.

Gold Coast are in for a world of pain next season. They may be the first team in decades to go winless. It's a realistic possibility IMO.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
