Terrible news.

Was hoping to have him back in ASAP.

Its really bad luck for Hunt, love his attitude and approach even know things have not gone well this year.

Although he has not been in good enough touch to make the 1sts for a while, Jayden was always an available option to speed up our aging backline.

That option appears now gone for 4-6 weeks. Disappointing for the young fella, and disappointing for us.

Oskar Baker is not really ready for a call up, in my opinion. However, like Jayden, he does have a good turn of speed.

Like most clubs, injury is now impacting outcomes. After the bye, we will see just how good our perceived depth is.

We live in very interesting times, in so many ways.

Went looking for the VFL report and came across this. Rest up and come back stronger, hopefully can force his way back into the team in the back half of the year and have an impact.

Geez the timing is horrible. That puts him coming back around round 18, will be hard to see him pushing for selection in time for potential finals.

Hope he heals and comes back with a vengeance.

Not good timing for him as you would assume he may have been a chance for a call up over the next few weeks.  Hopefully he's out for just the month rather than six weeks.

Strangely I actually think this could be good for both Jayden and us.

He just hasn't looked like himself this year.

After every drill in preseason he'd labour back to the group hands on hips.
The brilliance of his speed was that he could sprint to get the ball, gather and burst again, there was little of that this year. Lots of fumbles instead.

He didn't seem to be coming good at Casey. So some time off and a rest for his body might do him some good. I wouldn't rush him either. Give him a good amount of time to get healthy and get him back at Casey hopefully with a few VFL and AFL games left and there's always plenty of time for him to come in to the team.

None of the regular vfl reports suggested Spargo was ready either, "hasn't earn't a call up" upon suggestion to the DL podcasters - Might be a similar situation with Baker. Perhaps he has different boxes to tick than the others, and perhaps an early taste of footy for development combined with an actual team balance need might edge him over the team selection line, though it will be harsh on Stretch. But perhaps that's just a team balance call Goody may have to make?

The break worked for TMac and Viney.  Perhaps Hunt will be able to get ‘game ready’ and come back near his best.  By then, we will either have gone forward without him, or it will be too late....

Maybe this explains a lot, if it is not an acute injury?

Hopfully, whatever the injury is, he will come back quicker, and hungrier, than ever.

Bad news, Hunt is the most elite athlete on the list and through last years good form and this years bad form I have never once felt like this chap wouldn’t at some point be back in the fold. Would be incredibly frustrating and let’s hope he pulls through it and goes on to show how good he can be.

Oh yeah, forgot about this.

Saw him on Monday at the G, hobbling through the crowd on crutches. Poor bastard. Looked glum, understandably.

this is a big blow, even though he is not in the team now.  we need his speed and line breaking badly to deal with the high pressure teams.  I was hoping he would be back to form soon

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
