Dockers will make a big play to get Angus Brayshaw in exchange for Langdon. Idea is to reunite the brothers (the WCE brother to be delisted and also picked up by them).

I think you are just pretending with this.

Braysahw isn't moving. has a relationship in Melbourne  which more than ever is very important that he doesn't leave..

I would be furious to lose Brayshaw. Yes, he had a poor season but he is the kind of player any club should fight to keep. Go hard for Langdon who has lots of qualities we need but let's not tangle Brayshaw in the trade.

Yep. In a relationshipwith Spuds daughter and I highly doubt they will uproot all of a sudden to the other side of the country. Especially now with everything that's gone on and Mum being by herself.

Ed Langdon keen to get to Dees as Coaching saga at Freo drags on & on & on Zzzzzz

Langdon will be a handy pickup for us.  However his ball use is about on par with our other mids.  He delivers inside 50 about as well as Brayshaw and co and can be a real butcher.

But he does bring us some speed through the middle, which we certainly need.

I'm personally not in favour of this but will float it anyway.. could we potentially shop Nev around as part of the deal to get Langdon and hang on to pick 20?

I personally think Nev will bounce back and have a strong year, but if we feel he's on the way down, pick 20 might be pretty handy to hang onto.

Lets rip the heart out of the club.

Like i said, i'm not for this, but this club is not ruthless like a Hawthorn, and i suspect that's why we haven't won a flag in a million years.

we should look at every single opportunity to gain an advantage at the trade table.

Is that the tonic to winning a premiership? Trading out heart and soul players like Nev ?

When did Hawthorn become ruthless and trade out players that delieved them a flag? Shipping out Mitchell, Lewis and Hodge hasn't exactly brought them much success...

Those Hawks were traded after a gazillion flags. Not apples with apples

Yep. Just need to get it done. Last club we need to be wasting all trade week with (and giving another club the chance to swoop in) is Freo

Will get done no matter what. He’s keen to get to us which puts us on the front foot. Agree that we cant afford to get too cute with it though

Well, exactly. Because we're wedded to him, we'll pay what we need to pay. And the little dill will make sure of it.

There's no reason to deviate from the future 2nd round pick offer until it gets to AFL mediation with 60 seconds left in the trade period.

Ed Langdon knows how business works. He knows we want him and will pay him handsomely. Just relax and wait this one out. At some stage Freo will have to decide if they want a fair offer of a future 2nd or if they want to risk getting nothing.

Langdon for pick 22 seems fair enough. He is ready to go run and carry and pace. Exactly what we need ASAP

Nope, they can have next years pick 32

Is that before or after GCs compo picks?

That should be pick 76 by then.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
