Langdon would certainly compliment our side. But the player we need is Brad Hill. If the club thinks this list can get a flag then Hill is our man. Quick with elite skills. Also elite endurance. Wouldn’t give up pick 3 for Hill alone but we need to chase him.

Im not convinced Collingwood will get Langdon. They apparently have their own cap issues. If we go for Langdon I wouldn’t be trading him for Brayshaw. At best it’s be an even deal. At worst he plays at 2018 levels at freo and we lose out big time.

Would pic 3 for hill and Langdon be overs?

does hill play in the f50?

I'll be interested to see how we negotiate with Freo as well after the rubbish from last year.  I can't see them attempting to do us any favours, although finishing on the bottom means we possibly hold all the cards in terms of him going into something like the pre-season draft.

Could you tell me the last time a wanted, quality player stiffed his former club and went into the preseason draft to go to a near bottom team?

That wasn't really the point, Moonie. It's more around how they try to stuff us last year with Jesse, but this time we have more power. I'm sure a trade will happen if he wants to come here, but we have more leverage this time.

What is this "more power" or "leverage"? Is it that he is OOC and can 'potentially' come to us in the preseason draft? If so, then it is on point.

But I'll move on

Very ordinary player tonight. The knock on his disposal is correct. On tonight’s performance, a Pick around 30 is about right.

On tonight’s game Zak Jones is a better player, he’d be worth about a Pick 25.

Langdon wouldn’t get a game at the Pies. Phillips & Sidebottom are both much better Wingers.

I don't really see the attraction

To be honest I think Freo will play hardball but he won’t attract anything more than our second rounder.

For Mahoney it won’t be. That’s one thing you can bet on.

We can’t trade our first round pick this year. The only option is if we trade pick 3 for 2 picks, one within the first round, then on trade the other pick.

We must use a first round selection this year, unless the rules have changed?

If we pay more than a 2nd rounder then it’s daylight robbery. His kicking is very ordinary.

An outside mid who can’t kick? So what exactly are we getting here?

Speed and that’s it.

This was my thought also pick 3 for hill and Langdon with maybe a second rounder coming back

based on what we've seen this year, i'd rather get brandon ellis as a free agent and keep our second round pick and use it at the draft

As much as I dislike said player, this makes a lot of sense.

is Baker our langdon already in the system?

2nd round picks will range from #19 to #36 (excluding academy etc players)  A very wide range!

Our 2nd round pick will be around ~20-22.  Hope people aren't saying we use that as 'the second rounder' for Langdon!!

Would much rather use it for someone who is a proven goal kicker of any shape or size.

Maybe and I am getting excited about Jordon, who is continuing to develop very well. Also Sparrow to come back and Nietsche ( sorry about spelling,) who was spoken about by players in pre season as being very talented.

IMO unless we are targeting a champion, we should try and find a FA or two and use our draft picks for top end talent.

Can’t recall any FA’s we have picked up.I think you have more chance with a disgruntled player possibly not getting a run, than one merely going for money.

I personally don't like Langdon as a player and i wouldn't be giving up anything significant for him. he runs all day sure, but he's not a very good kick at all, makes average decisions and while he'd probably fit in, i don't see him being a regular in the best 22 or contributing in any meaningful way to improving this side to the point it can challenge for a flag.

Brad Hill on the other hand... Speed, class, skills

NO! That would be a super deal for us!!?

Probably said this 3 or 4x's already, but this guy is not going to help us improve to the levels we're all hoping for in the future.

Besides his tank & a bit of pace, i don't see anything else to suggest he's a talented footballer. I really hope we look elsewhere.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
