You do realise the team you've quoted is one that he has 'made up' on the Monday, yeah?

Nope ?

Reality is I do pick the team Goody's right hand man I am.

The club should scrap the official Team of the Century from a few years back and get you to redo it, WD.

I want to see the REAL team.

I would like to see Stretch played in the back half for at least a half each week to see if he can develop into a Vince style role. Not sure he has the necessary instinctive smarts to replace Lewis in time but that is also a possibility.

Also not sure that the midfield role is the place to develop decision making skills that carry through to the seniors. Thinking JKH here and worried that Billy is going the same way.

Billy has this year and probably next to break into the senior side......... I'm sure everyone here wants to see him given every chance.

I'll let KC put up the team, but the side has included King and Tyson.

I think M.Lewis and Lok should hold their spots due to the possibility of Garlett and Pedo going up to the NT.

Hutchins still out.

Quigley the 23rd man.

Hutchins is listed as full back for Mansfield in the GVFL

I worry that while billy is a muscular young man, he seems too small for a halfback spot. Aerial flankers will make short work of him and I just don’t see that as a fit

you could be right.. I was thinking of him in the Bernie Vince role but I see Billy is 180cm compared to 186cm for Bernie. Not much difference really (2.3 inches) but maybe enough to make it a difficult proposition.

A dominant performance from Jeff Garlett would be nice.

It’s a beautiful morning, should be a good day of footy

I assume he will be in NT with Pedersen. Not sure if Tyson and Hunt will be at Port either.

Perhaps Drunk'n or KC can help us out.

Hunt will be at Port and I'm thinking that Tyson will be too - the latter needs the game time. Hasn't played for two weeks now...

There are three Casey Demons listed players involved in the second of this year’s Young Guns games.

Good luck to Kieran Byers, Tom Freeman and Mykelti Lefau.

Is Kieran Byers the son of former Demon, Garry?

Does this mean that the song gets played twice at the start of the game? Once for each team?

I wouldn't think so Jim, Garry Byers is 80 years old

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.
