Port Melbourne v Casey Demons - Round 8

Featured Replies

After thumping Frankston and returning to the top 4 Casey will play Port.Melbourne who are currently 7th.

It is an away game and starts at 2pm Saturday.

Casey should win this comfortably by 30 points with the form they are in and could boast an even stronger line up with the possible inclusions of Tyson, King and Hutchins.

POSSIBLE TEAM

B: KEILTY, FROST, JOHNSTONE

HB: J.SMITH, PETTY, LOCKHART

C : HUNT, STRETCH, BAKER

HF: BALIC, WHITE, BUGG

F: FILIPOVIC, PEDERSEN, KENNEDY HARRIS

FOLL: KING, J.WAGNER, TYSON

IC: C.WAGNER, SCOTT, MUNRO, HUTCHINS, DI PASQUALE

SENIOR EMERGENCY: GARLETT

goody mentioned they would be taking a few extra players up to the alice for the experience, so we might be down a few listed players in the magoos

I thought he was taking the injured players up early and then they were flying up Saturday. I think maybe the 1 traveling emergency is consistent with the rest of the year (right?). Saying that i don’t remember us traveling with and emergency to the Gabba.

Port aren't a bad side ... they beat us well last year if I recall.

Ex Tigers player Nahash (?) played a blinder.

Very nice surrounds down at Port although having the same colours and theme song as the MFC can be a little confusing.

And of course the famous Burra Burger not to mention the dim sims.

Weather froecast looks okay if not a little cool so I will probably head down.

i'd imagine all the indigenous players will probably go up for the clinics and local pr even though 2 of them probably won't be playing

If you're going to pre-empt @KC from Casey in setting up this thread every week can you please follow the same format in the topic heading and preview info?

Consistency is a wonderful thing and doing it that way allows posters to search and find the thread in the future, once the topic has dropped off the main page.

Here's the template:

 Thanks

Yes Nahas has been killing it at Port. They are a very good and well drilled side - definitely breaking the mould for the non-aligned VFL clubs!

I would expect Tyson and one perhaps one other listed player to travel to the NT either as travelling emergencies and also for PR purposes. That being said, if Tyson travels as emergency to the NT, that will be two weeks without a game...

Anybody care to comment on Frost

Is he capable of regaining a position in the seniors

I haven't been following the Casey threads

How is he developing

I wouldn't expect Tyson to travel he needs a game under his belt. Garlett and Pedo for mine.

He might be needed when we play the WCEagles ?

I'll let KC put up the team, but the side has included King and Tyson.

I think M.Lewis and Lok should hold their spots due to the possibility of Garlett and Pedo going up to the NT.

Hutchins still out.

Quigley the 23rd man.

A pretty strong squad again but the full strength won’t be determined until we know how many players are taken to the NT:-

You do realise the team you've quoted is one that he has 'made up' on the Monday, yeah?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
