Wheras I'd take Brayshaw.

Petracca might have the god given gifts.
But he doesn't have the drive to make the most of those gifts.
Reckon he'll be a frustration over his career.
Great to see the tongue has stayed inside his mouth this season though.

Col (Just need a big pre season ) Silvia mark 2??

That's what's wrong with his kicking, he needs it as a counter balance.

I love it when people make all encompassing statements about a person when they're not privy to any relevant knowledge.  Please correct me if this statement isn't true.

I'm not privy to such information either, but seeing his rehabbing videos from a torn ACL, my gut feel is you're way off the mark.

Preseason training reports from my Brother also confirmed Petracca's endurance running was far better than Brayshaw's.

Gus will finish his career as a much better than "solid" mid.

He will be one of our best 5, given an injury free run.

We needed pure footballers, and Gus is certainly one of those.

I reckon Gus is a more intelligent footy player, than Tracca is.  Tracca is a bull, and probably hasn't needed to fine tune things as much, in his lifetime.

These comparisons between players is all a bit pointless.

Players have different physical and mental attributes.

In the old days, no-one compared Barassi with Dixon or any of the other Demon stars of the time.  Barassi was Barassi, Dixon was Dixon. However, they made up a champion team.

In the 80s, we did not compare Lyon with Viney etc.

Lets hope we play in a Grand Final and Brayshaw dominates in the midfield all day and Petracca pops up in the last quarter and kicks 3 quick goals to win the match.

They have different attributes, skills sets and different on-ground behaviours.  Its about molding those individual attributes into a champion team.

I see angus had a hole in one at Melbourne west course

If he can play golf then the sandbelt (where he hails from) will add to the appeal of staying at the dees - and to play finals with us of course

I differ h, I hope he has a blinder, from the half back flank.

Brayshaw works hard, is tough and knows how to find it. He's not as slick in tight as Oliver (who is?) or Trac.

I'm glad we have them both but if I had to choose, I'd take Trac. His time will come.

Trengove WAS NOT a disgrace. He had a horrid run with injuries which seriously hindered his development. No one could question his efforts for MFC. A Quality young man who got dealt some bad cards.

Scully still rankles me (as does O'Meara). Goes to a club in draft. Shows potential, gets injured  and the Club gets him back on the park patiently and then they up & leave .( Partly the AFL's fault though

Pisd poor effort saying Trengove was a disgrace.. at the end of 2011 Trengove was talked up as one of the brightest young talents of the competition. His first 2 years were far better then what Petracca and Brayshaw had put together in their 1st 2 years.

What absolutely ruined his career was the burden of the captaincy at age 20 and then a serious career threatening foot injury which took 2 years to heal. By the time he came back, he'd lost all his power and speed that once possessed.

Trengove wa also one of the most hard working and professional player in our team and did every right to try and get back to his best, but unfortunately the damage was already done. He had a team first attitude and not once ever complained when he was constantly getting overlooked for selection last year.

Hes all class in my eyes.

These are the worst kind of posts on footy forums.  You provide zero context and one is left guessing as to the veracity of the contribution.

From experience one nuffie relays a comment they've heard from another nuffie who read the link on a news outlet that Brayshaw, who wasn't getting a game at the time, should potentially seek a trade to Freo.  Cue the nuffie relating 4th hand info as though it's fact. It happens all of the time.  Said nuffie actually "heard" nothing.

Having said all of that, I'm virtually certain Brayshaw won't want to leave all of his mates when they're on the verge of maturing into the side we and they have hoped for.   It just doesn't make sense.  And if it doesn't make sense it won't happen.

And then another nuffie oracle tears strips out of concerned posters ...

Both Petracca and Brayshaw have had to face some adversity early on which has most obviously had an impact on their development as players.

I don't really care for comparing them at this stage. Gus had his breakout couple of games for us this year and Trac has shown glimpses of what he's capable of. As long as we continue to nurture and educate these boys, they will both be big time contributors for the MFC.

Trac missed all of his first year and Gus pretty much missed all of last year. It put them both back. The exciting thing in my eyes is that they're both so untapped along with some other players and we're still sitting 5th at the halfway point.

As I've said a number of times, greater consistency in performance will come once these guys reach 80-100 games. And from then on it'll be a hell of a watch if we can keep our core together.

He was a poor choice he could never get a clearance  and was terribly slow and injury prone. Another disgraceful choice by Prendergast. We should have Dusty. Trengove is overrated because he is injury prone. Couldn't get a for us and can't get a game for Port he is a hopeless footballer. I stand by that it was a disgraceful decision to pick him up it was as bad as Toumpas.

I think I'll use this as a reminder to never read your contributions again. You clearly know bugger all about football and your attack on a bloke who, before injuries and the burden of the captaincy at a young age, was destined to be an absolute star of the competition, is nothing less than a disgrace.

Here’s Trengove’s stats vs D.Martins stats for 2010 (first season) and 2011. Most of us already know that injury and poor management ruined Trengoves career. But for those who have forgotten..

Doubled his clearences even back then. Trengove could never get his own ball that's his problem and his obvious lack of pace. We should have Martin that should even be obvious to clowns like wiseblood.

Dont waste your time Wise with this moron. This is the same half wit that says dont read his post, but yet derails every thread with a [censored] random team selection for no particular reason.

Yes, I should know better, but sometimes I can't help myself.  It just seemed like such a random attack on a bloke who gave his all for the club.  Maybe he can regale us with a 'BEST INJURY PRONE 22' to make it all better... ?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
