I’ll keep saying it. He is in the Red & Blue next season!

Gaff will be a dee is what I was told today from somebody that should know.

What happened?

I’ve got more confidence of Gaff being a Demon next year than the Dees of playing finals this year. (And I have zero inside info on either scenario, well besides being let down by the club for the last 12 years).

I’m not sure why posters feel the need to attempt to big note themselves by claiming inside information on player movements. Common sense would tell me it’s only August therefore there’s no way Gaff would have 100% committed to any club at this time.

Posting in all capitals and using excessive exclamation marks doesn’t make it anymore credible either.

Nothing yet.

But it was ‘someone’ that should know! And a wise man once told me to believe everything said on DL.

Homework tonight is to figure out how we can get Gaff.

Have it on my desk tomorrow morning.

Maybe make some tough decisions.  Jones and Lewis to coaching roles.  Frees up salary cap.  Offer $1.2m a season if that is needed.

It’s a start. The rest can take a leaf out of your book.

Lewis is still contracted for next year isn't he? That means he will still be in the cap.

Yeah, in Parliament.  Rl.

Or heads of business.    Maybe the heads of the Church?

All the kings horses, and all the kings men ?

Or could that possibly be, the collective minds of the common folk.?

Or even the Board of Directors at the Rooty Hill RSL.

Not if he retires before SC census date this year. Example: Cyril at Hawks.

Can free up cap space. Lewis as an assistant coach in 2019 puts his wage under the FD, I believe.

Don't quote me on that though.

Norf supporters on BF think they are getting Gaff this year and Josh Kelly next year.

You’d have to be seriously desperate for cash to go to North over Melbourne or even Essendon. If Gaff picks North good luck to him. I don’t want anyone at our club who cares only about money. Winning and success has to be the main motivation if you come to Melbourne, as we have lots of great players we need to fit into the cap going forward.

Can see it now.

"Who has the best midfield?" threads, with norf supporters talking up some nobody side into second, so they can then type a novel about why they are number 1

"Cunners, Zeibs and Benny J cutting the packs open, and feeding the ball to Gaffer and Joshy K. Wow, we will be invincible!"

Norf suporters are my favorites.

Don’t think so.  Cyril retired and the articles were all about how much salary cap freed up.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
