Our midfield is probably already the best in the comp and thats with all the elite young talent yet to play anywhere near 100 games of footy.  The improvement to come will be scary.

If you add in Gaff to that....   whats the level above scary?

Very Scary??

In terms of keeping the current group together under the cap (and adding Gaff), what’s the value of a Premiership medallion or two to a player? Financially post-career? Emotionally?

Didn't someone say on here the other day that the salary cap per club increases by 2M p.a. from 2019?

That could accommodate an uplift in Tmac, Brayshaw and Gaff.

Let's aay 750-800 gaff, +200 p.a. for Tmac + 200 p.a. for Brayshare that leaves 600k P.a. for the rest of the group. Would that provide a CPI lift for everyone? Not sure what the base is.

I find it interesting to read speculative posts on who we can afford and who gets what etc, when we are not privy to the club's  list payment information.

Don't give up your day job, I did speak to Jason Taylor today but it was about Austin Bradke

On Gaff, we don't seem to have issues with outside run at the moment, but this is first season Gaff has consistently played inside as well, out of necessity

We would be silly not to enquire, I just don't want us in a bidding war

As a matter of interest, what’s the vibe with Bradtke?

FWIW I asked some scouts about him and they said he was a completely unknown quantity

Yet fellow students at his school say he is as naturally talented as the King twins, [censored] both expected to go top five in this draft

What’d Taylor say?

edit: it is ABSURD that who’re if it doesn’t have an apostrophe in it gets censored...it is an actual word ffs

That's why I just make it all up mate and use approximations. Because I have no idea but you can at least get where I am coming from.

It's not actually. Unlike the contractions "they're" or "we're", "who're" should be written "who are". :P

Seriously, if we added Gaff to this group...

Wow.

Wowee.

We are 7-3 and footy is so good at the moment...  but its hard not to get excited about the possibility of Gaff coming to us.

It really feels like it will happen,  or that its at least very realistic.

2019 (and beyond) midfield

Oliver - Viney - Brayshaw - Petracca - Jones - Salem - Hogan - Gaff - Fritsch - Spargo - Harmes - ANB

Scary!   Like the Geelong triple  premiership teams who had a midfield that batted 12 deep that was unstoppable, and untaggable...  but ours would be even more dangerous due to the likes of Hogan, Tracca, Spargo and Fritsch who could go forward and tear a game open.  Oliver will soon prove to be a dangerous goalkicker too who can rest forward and menace teams.. the evolution is coming.

Even if we dont get Gaff we will still be downright frightening.

Yeah, get excited folks.

Previous to this year he lacked inside work. He’s now doubling the amount of clearances per game compared to last season and averaging two more contested possessions per game.

@jane02 anything?

Finally caught up with my source this morning who told me that Gaff definately wants to be a Demon next year. I pressed for a bit more but that’s all he would give me.

So your source is a ‘he’. Very interesting.......verrrrrry interesting.

Yep, really. That narrows down the field of probably sources considerably (by 50%).

Now, does anyone have a list of every male connected to Gaff and the Demons (somehow) by let's say 2 degrees of separation and work backward.

It should only be about 25000 people.

personally I love this kind of stuff. Jusr remember that If you reveal that source  it will printed in the Sun the next day..

I have a doubt about it though. Mainly because  he's in a premiership contending  team right now AND  if he wins one with the eagles wouldnt it make more sense to him to be chasing $ rather than flags?. Can see him going to the saints if the eagles win this year.

Well, if my memory serves me correctly the 'he' is doctor operating in the Brighton area. That should narrow it down a bit.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
