Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

pedo does the instinctual things - marking, quick booming kicks into space, attacking the contest - so well

but every time he has a single moment to 'think' about it he generally mucks it up pretty badly

Not alone there DA

You should change your name to Pollyanna or delusional.

why for saying our gameplan is not as it was 11 years ago junior...  you must start taking your angry pills jMc new playing list.

And new coach means new game-styles, which also will change as the new coach keeps up with trends.

Spargo getting involved this last quarter when we need it. His disposal has been iffy, but he doesn't have much to kick to with that clogged up forward line. He knows how to find the pill and has fire in him. Definitely something to work with there.

On the other hand, Dion Johnstone struggles to get involved in any form. Doesn't find the ball, doesn't lay many tackles, just jogs around aimlessly. The nicest thing I can say about him as a footballer is he is present and playing. Seems a bust and clear delist material alongside the injured Vandenburg and McKenna.

Not good that it seems like there's not too much to work with. Particularly from the guys who've been in the system for a few years. Baker, Petty and Spargo at least a little cause for optimism. Guys around the JKH age range... really disappointing.

This shows the underlying problem at Casey and Melbourne.  We clog up our forward line - but are hopeless at getting it to a free to a player for a shot.  We leave lots of space over the back - but dont run both ways or have the legspeed to manage.

There are some serious issues with the gameplan and the personnel asked to play it at both levels.  Manic pressure by hawks last week, Tigers 2nds this week brought it all undone.  Clog it up in our forward line and run the other way fast and you cut the demons open.  Seems like an easy game plan to beat.  Until we get personnel that can find the loose man outside, Have players that are fast enough the other way, and we can sustain intense pressure, we have (and will have) plenty of problems.

Well Rawlings is supposed to be channeling the same game plan

Hows that going for us I wonder.

At least the Magoos didn't chuck it in.

Spargo, Pedders, Munro, Gent, Hannan (in patches) have done ok.

Outside of Pedders there was no big man presence / marking around the ground today apart from a few tap outs to advantage.  Soldo dominated.

They seemed all at sea up the sharp end....and then it stopped going there.

Tigers got to rebound too easy as game wore on.

Hmmm

If today was a good example of the game plan we are trying to instill across the list then i hope he has a plan B.

And i'm not saying it was BZ....just saying

Other than Pedo and Spargo, none of the Melbourne listed players showed much. JKH and some of the others who have been around a few years are pure list cloggers who are being kept around for contractual and emergency injury situations. Further culling of the list is needed as we severely lack class. We have far too few good kicks still after all these years somehow!

Casey seemed to try hard, but with a crowded forward line struggled to make the most of opportunities when going forward. Exactly the same as the AFL team, and it shows our gameplan does not work and needs to change.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
