Burton dropped,  good result

Where did that come from? I had no idea he was playing poorly enough to be dropped.

I reckon they’ll go for Stretch to replace Tyson on the wing and Brayshaw if Salem can’t come up (the sooty oystercatcher says he is okay after the concussion issue against Geelong but he has joined the Viney TMac duo with a hotspot on his foot).

Is this based on some sort of knowledge/source or is this just tripe/trolling?

Pedersen polled 3 votes against St Kilda in round 21 and 1 vote vs Brisbane in round 22 last year. Both these games were with Gawn in the side and Hogan played against Brisbane.

He hasn't set the world on fire this year in the AFL, but there is no doubt he was unlucky to be dropped IMO. (Especially given the wet conditions in round 2.) I am not advocating to bring him back this week, but I wouldn't see it as a bad move either given Hogan is our only key forward and he is pushing very high up the ground.

Nice work FT ??

as most of us thought..... would have been interesting if Tyson had not been ill

Given there's no other ins I would think that would have meant an unchanged team Jim

Wolfy loves the peyote for sure but I heard something about a hotspot last week.. he played against Norf and played well.

Maybe there is hotspots and then “HOTSPOTS”.

As Indiana Jones said when peering into the well of souls

"I've got a BAD feeling about this"!

I don't like it at all  If  we lose this, Ill hark back to the "Lost at Selection" argument!

Perfect chance to stretch the Hawks backline by playing Weeds which then would have resulted in Gunston having to play Back! Win Win

You watch this spectacularly misfire. ANB lucky and Harmes EVEN MORE SO !

Selectors again playing safe, The time to play safe is when you are 100 pts up in a Grand Final with minutes to play , and even then its risky!

Indy also said to Salah when asked 'what is your plan Indy?'

"i dont know I'm making this up as I go"

if you think they're playing it safe i completely disagree; i'd argue that selectors are actually doing anything but playing it safe

by going in with a small ball forward line we're going against everything we set up for in 2018 by dint of t mac being injured

all offseason the plan was two talls - hogan and t mac - supported by smalls and rotating mids

pedo got a chance and was average (at best) against cats and bears, so we changed selection strategy completely against north

one thing that goodwin and his other coaches have shown an ability to do in the last year and a bit is to change things as required - last year structures got completely thrown out the window with injuries to gawn, hogan, jones, viney, and watts, plus suspensions, and now they've completely changed again thanks to t mac's hotspot in his foot

they're playing a risk-reward with gawn by playing him one-out against two very good ruckmen in goldstein and mcevoy

Is that good mail?

If it is,  Salem should be Off legs immediately and should not play.   We just can't risk another of our top talents being out for months by playing them when we shouldn't.  Refer Trengove, Viney and McDonald!

It would be a cruel twist of fate if Salem is grounded just as he was finding really good form.  But better out for a few games now than risk more injury and having him out for months.

Yep, with the slightest doubt on Salem's readiness or minor worries of an injury, get him out of the team, immediately, to recover. He has had enough interruptions and we cannot do well without his lasting skills.

How the hell are the Dees v Hawks not on prime time this weekend?!?! There has been nothing but terrible games in the prime slots this weekend. (Not the Dogs, Swans game that wasn’t prime time).

Most of the big wheelers who make the decisions as to who plays when don't barrack for Melbourne Cards.  And those that are are only interested in pushing the same old big 4 clubs in Melb and the Blues the ugly duckling 5th perpetual romantic 'hopeful'.

In addition no one outside of the club will take us seriously until we make finals.  We will always be a bridesmaid until then.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
