Fridge is a gun, beautiful kick, has great vision, nearly always gives it to a player that benefits the team! Fantastic #31 draft pick and Spargo has similar characteristics using the ball.

Kicking efficiency takes into account clangers (i assume that's what you meant up there) & turnovers D4.  It's far from perfect but is the best statistic we have and will ever likely see (as everyday punters).

No doubt it has plenty of flaws but there's nothing else more meaningful which is available for us to gobble up at this point.    The FD (Craig Jennings) would no doubt be getting their hands on more juicy data!  A better indicator statistically is Champion Data's 'hit rating' that is much more robust as to who is kicking better under certain degrees of difficulty and pressure as per the excerpt below ....

....."Champion Data uses a measure called kick rating to assess a player's kicking efficiency (not to be confused with the standard kicking efficiency %) , which takes into account the degree of difficulty of kicks when measuring a player's kicking effectiveness.
 
It assesses the pressure on the kicker along with the kicker's intended target and distance and direction to measure how difficult kicks were and come up with a kick's expected hit rate. The kick rating then shows the player's hit rate minus his expected hit rate to come up with a figure that is plus or minus zero.
 
It is different to kicking efficiency, which measures the percentage of kicks that are merely effective (effectively results in a possession or to advantage outcome for the intended target/team).

Trawling through match vision, Champion Data arrives at an ‘Expected Hit Rate’ figure for each type of kick (there are 446 different types of kicks possible from a statistical viewpoint) and the average hit rate a player is expected to attain based on the difficulty of kicks he has attempted. The rating a player receives is the difference between the actual hit rate and expected hit rate. Players are therefore able to receive an overall rating and a rating for types of kicks.

A simple example shows how it works. Imagine the kick being measured is a long forward kick to a lead in the attacking midfield under implied pressure.

It has been attempted 23 times in the AFL and 10 have hit their target, so the expected hit rate is 10/23 or 43.5 per cent if a player takes this kick once and hits the target, his hit rate would be 100 per cent, which means 100 minus 43.5 would give him a rating of +56.5. Every kick by the player is rated in such a fashion, then divided by the number of kicks to come up with an overall rating. If his kick had missed, he would have started with a -43.5 rating."  ....

Another ripping game from Fritter tonight.  25 touches, 14 of them contested and he got them all over the ground.  Can spend some time at half back, run through the wings and we know how good he is up forward.  Was a one touch player all night in the conditions and you feel confident every time he has the pill that he can hit a target.

With another pre season and knowing he is in our best 22,  it will make him an even better player for us.

Probably the only player i trust to do something good with ball in hand everytime

Has he gotten a Rising Star nomination yet or is he too old for one?

Too old by 20 days or something.

They should change award to rookie of the year. Fritsch and Kelly from Geelong have been best 1st  year players in the league this year and won't get any recognition

In his very short career he has shown he can play all over the ground.

But with Lever out, he should continue to be used more often than not across half back - he has looked so at home there and his reading of the play and marking ability are elite.

A godsend.

100%.. he and Salem using it off half back will help us setup beautifully! 

 

Won’t win the NAB Rising Star award because he can’t but still one of the recruits of the year!

His composure at times just makes my heart sing. A rare find.

also that was a mark ..cant remember which quarter maybe the 2nd - controlled it and got screwed by the BS Adelaide bias - I was pretty dirty at the time

I loved him playing as the deepest defender. He reads it so well. What he did in the last quarter made a huge difference

Absolutely love this guy. Has so much poise and kicks well every time. I also liked him as the sweeper thought he was really important in that role.

the best thing about Fritsch is that even when he has a slightly quieter game (last night could be seen as one of those) he still has input and still offers value. 

Had a costly first half last week giving away 3 clear scoring shots (leading to 2.1). Did exactly the same thing last night, plus gifted (was it?) Jenkins that poster in the last quarter after dropping an uncontested mark in the goal square. 

Getting a bit overrated for mine. He's silk on the outside, but I think he's really struggled in 1v1 situations in the last fortnight or so.

Maybe a tiny bit overhyped. It you gotta admit that what he’s good at he does very well. A vital cog right now 

How good is fritta been this year?! 

He is on par as our most skilful/magical player and is pretty damn consistent for a first year player. 

And the best part he is only 21! Huge upside
