Keep your chin up we will be fine. When the going gets tough the tough get going. We are developing a innovative positive culture but that will take more than just people inside the club to understand that - hence the need for time, but as you say we mainly are a resilient lot of supporters. The good times are a coming - Go Dees

I should add we are building strong bonds with the AFL and other teams in the competition, working towards strong bonds with key stakeholders in the community at large , re-invigorating our brand to attract the younger generation - but most of all giving the players perspective so they can emulate what the club is trying to do off the field . Our players past and present are everything to us - we treat them with respect and hope one day they can deliver the ultimate goal.

I wish him no luck at all.  I don't wish any opposition player "luck".

When his career is over I'll have some fond memories and respect him as a former MFC player.  But for now he wears colours I can't stand.

    What are the bonds we are building with the AFL and other clubs. I can see the ANZAC game with RFC could be part of this. What else?

    I don't follow this at all. Can you give examples so an old slowcoach like me can understand who are the key stakeholders and what are the strong bonds we are working towards.

    Again, this sounds very promising, but what are the concrete things that are re-invigorating our brand, and what does re-invigorating our brand look like? Bigger membership? Merch sales?

    Again, I'm finding this hard to follow. What does a coach say (or is it the FD, the board?) to players to give them perspective. What do players do in response? Win games?

    Perhaps, after 8 years, the penny has finally dropped with Jack. If so, good for him, though even if it has, it doesn't alter that the decision to move him on was the right one.

    On other subjects (though not unrelated), notice that Trengove didn't play - unless there's an injury, not a promising sign for him. Sad to see if that's the case.

     

    Happy to have Jack and other ex D's fortunes reported.

    Happier that our results are trending better.

    Have previously stated the significance of Ports performance against our and still think it appropriate.'

    Practice matches are absolutely meaningless. Watts won't kick anymore than 20 goals for the season and in saying so will not be a great loss.

    And one other thing I rate JW ahead of a Billy Stretch anyday and it appears he will play round 1. I wouldn't play him but what do I know??So best 22 and if Watts was still A Dee he would? should play. 

    Forget about outside run No 29 CAN achieve that in spades on a wing... And we should still have an excellent finisher!! Would Watts have missed the gimme Bugg fudged in the first quarter?? 

    Well there you have it.

    Should still be  DEE but isn't it a fascinating season to unfold for DEES and Port Adelaide!

    i think you are losing the plot mate. Your arguements are like Swiss Cheese Dr. 

    Seriously i am not an old Kevin Bartlett, but i am looking at what the AFL has done and is doing to the game

    It is unrecognisable to what i watched 25-30 years ago

    The AFL are swimming in money, but most clubs are in debt. You keep telling us this is a good thing. 

    In 1970 121,000 people rocked up to the Grand Final and you could hear the cheer squads face off at one another from Richmond Station. 

    As a 7 year old i have never forgotten that noise  

    Now it’s loud cheap music and betting ads that are so loud

    All have left the Mfc, after their golden handshakes & long service holidays. We seem to get the timing wrong.  The holidays seem to be taken, prior to retiring from the club.

     

    Leave Watts alone, no other player who has been traded has had this  sort attention, I for one will not have a running commentary on his time at port, there is going to be enough of our player playing good games, to talk about.

    Does everyone remember James seller kicking 5 goals in a preseason game against port, then in round 1 v port he could not even mark the ball.

      Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

      Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
