DistrACTION Jackson 10,748 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Well that was probably as strong a Saints side as they will have. We had a few key players missing in Viney, Lewis & McDonald which bodes well I guess. Hopefully we don't allow teams many run ons in the when the real thing starts though! 5 Quote
3Dee 1,153 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Well I honestly can’t see us losing a game this year. 11 2 5 Quote
Demon Disciple 12,537 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Oliver needs to kick the ball more. I know he is in the guts pretty much 100% of the time, but he is too good an accumulator and kick to not exploit this more. 1 Quote
Wiseblood 24,637 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Positives: - We won. A win is always a positive, no matter how you get it. - When we played at full tilt in the first two quarters, we looked fantastic. Great transition, slick ball movement, manic pressure and our backline was terrific. - It feels like we have some players ready to take the next step. Petracca and Hogan rotated through midfield and forward well, Gus had a really good game, Lever is a ripping acquisition and guys like Hannan and Fritsch give us some real X-factor up forward. - Gawny is ready to be an All Australian again. - Many of our players had limited game time. We rotated much more than them which showed in the third term. Negatives: - The third term. We changed things up a little but we stunk it up big time. We need to fix that ASAP otherwise we won't make the improvement we all expect. - We had a few players off tonight. Hunt couldn't really get himself into the game, Salem was just okay and I'm not sure Wagner is in our best 27-28 players. - We fumbled a bit but that was due to the conditions more than anything. Overall, it was a good win with a horrible lapse in the third term. Bring on Round 1!! 7 Quote
Sir Why You Little 37,458 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 What went wrong in the 3rd Quarter SEN was not telling much were players rested? Quote
Lil_red_fire_engine 11,383 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Three quarters of quality footbsll. One quarter where we got ahead of ourselves. Good to see Brayshaw get some good touch. 4 Quote
Sigil 1,002 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Not unhappy with that. Lost the lead, came back won. Lever is going to be handy. 3 Quote
brendan 3,458 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Look forward to see what goody says about the 3rd, hopefully he was experimenting with certain players which let them back in 1 Quote

CityDee 738 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 2 things we need Tempo footy when we have a lead that has been recovered . And against the momentum we need Run from our Backs Hunt and frost will do . 1 Quote
Guest Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Tracking exactly where history says we should be. Good not elite. Inside the 8 outside the 4. Quote
Deestroy All 14,266 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 (edited) No coincidence that all their forwards got touches once Oscar went off. I’m a fan and he’s probably more important than I give him credit for. Shocking 3rd quarter. Loved Goodwin taking extended time right before the 4q bounce with Oliver, bang clearance. Once the class got their hands on it on the 4th you could just see the difference between the teams. Took a quarter off and still won easily. Edited March 8, 2018 by Deestroy All 14 Quote
DemonOX 8,857 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 3rd quarter worries me. Was hoping when teams get a run on that we could stem the flow but didn’t happen. Saints kicked 6 goals to one in the third Hope it’s not a continuous them this season like last season. 1 Quote

Hot as Hell 466 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 3rd quarter started with party tricks and fancy stuff from the Dees and basic long kicking footy from the Saints. By the time we woke up, we couldn't stop them. It's an old habit we just can't break. Quote

SEN treated that game like a "practice run" ... not sure why they bothered turning up other than to give their producers etc a run. Listened for about 10 minutes and realised the comments on the AFL website provided better insight Quote
Goffer 256 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Can’t play 4 quarters yet and the Saints made s horrible mistake taking McCartin. Quote
