afl.com.au reporting up to 4 week hammy

Thanks.  Very disappointing.

With this quick turnaround and extended squads plus players being "dropped" at Casey I have lost track of the injuries.

Is there an official updated list since the April 10/11 posted above.

Thanks

Well hopefully not the same side as his major one last time.

Ch7 are reporting Petracca still in hospital having had more surgery on his finger.?

Edit - added this Ch 7 update.

Get well quickly! Club is confident he will play vs Saints on Sunday.?

Ch7 clearly not reading the original article http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-26/petracca-to-miss-due-to-dog-bite

Misson said Petracca would be monitored over the next few days, but was set to miss just one week.

“The doctor felt it needed a decent wash-out in surgery, and the important thing is that the wound needs to stay open for three days to guarantee that that infection’s gone before they stitch it up,” he said.

“Unfortunately, those three days coincide with the game, and the doctor actually wants him to stay in hospital over the weekend, just to make sure that the infection’s gone.”

Today is Monday, so once the infection's gone, the finger is stitched back up. Seems part of the routine from what I can see.

In other injury news Lynch from GC out for at least 4 weeks. Shame for him. Good news for us.

That said Oscar would be disappointed not to get a crack at him and try and add Lynch to the notches on his belt.

The MFCSS voice inside of my head can't decide whether he'll have a miraculous recovery in time to return for our match or whether his replacement will have a blinder.

The glass is never full. ?

And hopefully Steve May misses more than the 1 week.

Is Lan glands the name of the condition?

Bruce is a huge out for us for historical reasons. :P

Is the only name i recognised. I agree historically he's a nuisance. I don't rate him particularly.

Roberton has played well against us in the passed 2 games. Big out for them

Dave Missions' list is a bit longer, has the following additions!

Dean Kent (hamstring) - 4-5 weeks

Mitch King (elbow)- 5 6 weeks

Lachlan Filipovic (managing loads) - 2 weeks

Corey Maynard (hip) - 8 weeks

Harley Balic (foot) - 2 weeks

The whole injury list is here:

Harley Balic (plantar fascia) – 2-3 weeks
Lochie Filipovic (rested) – 2 weeks
Jesse Hogan (knee/ankle) – test
Dean Kent (hamstring) – 4-5 weeks
Mitch King (elbow) – 5-6 weeks
Corey Maynard (hip) – 6-8 weeks
Pat McKenna (hamstring) – indefinite
Christian Petracca (finger) – test
Christian Salem (thumb) – 1-2 weeks
Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) – 4-6 weeks
Jack Viney (foot) – 1-2 weeks

It's certainly getting longer which is not a good thing, but the positive is that outside of Hogan, Trac and Viney they aren't really best 22 players.  And those three won't be on the list for much longer as well.

Forgot about Kent and Balic. Did not know about Maynard.

Starting to believe in this Norm Smith Curse thing.

Balic has been out for 2 weeks with no notice and now for another 2 weeks.... poor guy.. what is it about our mature draftees.

Maynard ... 8 weeks .... almost career ending in reality

11 on the list... that is in excess of 25% of the list.. whether or not they are best 22 it is not good for overall team development... (not sure if resting Flip counts as an injury)

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
