Injury report: pre round one

This one interests me. No mention at all of the metatarsal injury - so it’s either migrated from the toe to the metatarsal and back to the toe or it was always the toe and there was no hot spot?

Tom McDonald (toe) – test

“Tom’s just had a bit of a sore toe for probably four to six weeks, and we’ve been managing his loads. But we just felt we needed to bite the bullet and get him off legs for 10 to 12 days. We’re going to start to load him towards the end of this week, and just see how that goes. We’ll make a decision on Tom next week.”

Take the extra week & play Pedo with Hoges.  I hope they do not play him TMc, just for Rnd1 gate attendance/memberships.

Its the business end, that we want to be full strength, & bitter.

Do you actually trust what this bloke says??

With injuries across the side, right up to today, it seems that the MFC are playing the super-sleuth game via Mission to keep the Cats guessing - in response to Geelong's mysterious Ablett/Dangerfield conundrum. Suddently this morning more 'niggles' appear in the Dees' players; suddenly the injury list is reduced to Viney, VDB, Smith and Lewis. Suddenly Clarrie has a niggle and ANB is not quite right to train normally.  Think an aspirin and a good week's rest is in order.

Thats a great injury list. Only one best 22 out

5 best 22 out for GWS, 4 for bombers, 5 for collingwood.

Assuming the two with "test" against their names pass their test.

think positively mate!

btw - geelong have 5 down as Tests

It is strange not to be worried about injuries this season as much as I have worried about them in the past. Last season we had a raft of longer term injuries to critical players and only just missed out on the 8. After a good solid off season we seem to have developed a group of players that are very flexible in the way they can play. there is also as evenness about the group.

Viney did not play any JTL but our midfield stood up well without him. TMac did not play JTL2 and we had 13 goal scorers.

I think we have the players and game plan to cover a few injured players.

Yes only Viney out of best 22

gotta worry about McKenna and Vandenburg. They are really struggling to get over long term problems

I'm not worried about them at all, they either make it through or they don't. Of course I hope they do get their chance.

I am worried about Oliver though...would hate to go into the first game without him.

It does seem like a bit of a game going on between the Scott & Goodwin all the same, neither really showing their hand at this stage and the odd bluff maybe.

If they don't play a game this year then they r goneski

Without Viney and Oliver, we get murdered IMO. It's like taking Selwood and Dangerfield out of Geelong.

First mystery injury of the week award for 2018.

It was reported by track watchers that he got hurt during the practice match v Port Melb.

Has to be a concern.

If Dangerfield doesn't play though, it lessens the impact.

I imagine its only a bit of bone bruising. They're protecting him from further knocks to that area, until game day.

IMO, consider him a Lock!

I would definately leave TMc out for this one. One more week to get right. Please Mfc. Don't risk him in Rnd-1.

We have plenty who can fulfill the role for one game.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
