Gosh the attitude of fairwater and success chasers disgusts me. “Make the finals, then I’ll renew”. Glad most people aren’t like that. It’s not only about winning all the time. Sometimes you just have to go on a cold muddy day, against a top team, knowing full well you’re going to lose. Why? To support your team. Not just support them if they’re successful. If that’s the case, you may as well jump ship and find a team that’s likely to win the premiership if that’s all that football means to you.

I was there in the 80’s. I know pain.

I cannot believe anyone allows their kids to support other teams.

Not being a mother, my nieces and nephews are the closest I’ll get. I’ve helped my brothers steer them towards Demons. I take them to games when they can’t. I buy them Demons merch. I reiterate what our father told us. Our mother seems to have got one niece stuck on Tigers. This will not do. She wants her tigers but never takes her to games. We’ll see how she goes when she’s the only one who goes to games where her team doesn’t play. The last thing tigers needs are more fans.

Like my brothers said to their kids: “support Demons or find somewhere else to live.”

If they want to buy their own foods and pay bills they can change teams.

Kids who change teams are not shown enough “discipline Tony”

Dad, is that you posting under another name?? ?

Hi Cassie, while I agree, you stated on the introduction page that you recently became a member again because you could see that the team was really trying now. Seems a little hypocritical.

It was financial reasons too. Also it was easier to get to games.

thought I was “ignored”

Anyone a bit disapointed with the membership package? The letter is just like “hey thanks for joining and supporting our team. If you need further help, please call this number.” Talk about lack of enthusiasm. I could have typed that myself. It took 3 weeks to send this?

Oh cheer up Cassiew you are a member of the greatest team in the competition when we beat the Cats in the first game you won't remember the letter.

A small item in our 2018 year.

I’d rather they save paper and just send me our cards and scarves. I don’t use the vehicle stickers because my car would get keyed over here. Any letter is just generic and means bugger all.

Yes but it’s disapointing after the encouraging letters we got in previous years. 2016 was from Paul Roos. Just a lazy effort. Like they have no faith in themselves already.

Don’t put the 2018 membership on my car. Can’t bear the thought of losing it to rain and sun, put in a scrapbook instead.

Not disappointed at all.  The scarf goes straight into the drawer and will no doubt end up at the Cat Protection Society's Opportunity Shop once the other half finds it, the fixture goes onto the fridge, the membership card into my wallet and the rest into the recycle bin.

Letters are just empty words anyway, and actions speak louder than words.

Yeah but why even bother. Especially after I had to contact them to renew. Signed up for annual plan and it only went through once in 2017. Waited and waited last year, nothing, had to call and renew over the phone.

If we're complaining about the type of letter we get in our membership pack then we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Get your membership card?  Good.  Supporting the club?  Great.  The rest is totally meaningless.

The club phone app should be able to include the membership barcode so the card isn't a necessity.

That fine and it’s your opinion. Personally I’d rather more enthusiasm. Especially after the past few ones were so inspiring to me.

Lol if the scarf means so little to you, I suggest the 25% discount ?

Hah. The stickers turn pink in no time at all. Why the Chinese ( I assume that's where they come from ) cannot get the red right is beyond me considering just about everything for China is "red".

Is anyone else who renewed their membership last year still waiting for their membership package to arrive? If it's just me, I'll contact the club.

I renewed on 21/02 (after the Coll crap I didn't think I would) and paid thru the MCC. The footy club acknowledged my payment and advised that my card & scarf would take around 4-6 weeks. When I chased them on that they said they need to get the monies from the MCC and from then it may take 2 to 4 weeks. Mind boggling. P.S. This is my 59th year as a member MFC.

59 years! And there is the definition of insanity. Congratulations and commiserations to you MT. I wonder if there are any other Demonlanders who can  claim more than 59? Does the MFC do $1 memberships at 50 years like the MCC does?

I can only claim 53.  My dad first signed me up after the '64 flag.  Not that I have much memory of that, as I was too busy picking up the old steel beer cans to stand on, rather than watch the game.  But at least I can say I was there.  From that point on my sanity has certainly been tested.  In 65 I was inconsolable after watching Tony Charlton interview Norm Smith just after Doc Duffy sacked him.

We slept the week outside "T" section (city end) before the grand final. Was worth it in the end. Even stayed at the "G" Saturday night for the celebrations. We could in those days.

I really like our scarf, i send them all around the world to promote our brand/football club. Funny enough the Americans & the Swiss love them the most. Think its something to do with the colours and having Melbourne on it.

Hey LDC, definitely get onto them, I have had a bit of a mess around this year for various reasons but in a nutshell if it has not been sent and they have to re-send to you, they are trying to get them out before round 1.  When they re-sent mine it took a good 3 weeks!

They mean well but it has been a bit of a schamozzel TBH

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
