That's all I needed to hear. That's it. close the door. Focus on the progress we did make this year, in what was a challenging year. We had some horrible luck this year and created some equally horrible luck for ourselves. We are all hurting. They are hurting. We don't need apologies....are we all three years old and can't move on unless we hear "sorry" .

A voice of reason, well said!

This is a blessing in disguise , it will finally make the players realize that destiny is in their own hands and to make sure they bring that intensity to the start of every game.

Hopefully it will give us a harder edge

Agree. I'm dreading seeing them on the news dressed in costume having a [censored] up

I was in the Sporting Globe Hotel having lunch with the good lady.

My back was to the front door and my wife noticed 5 guys she thought were Melbourne Players dressed rather funny, come in and go upstairs. She couldn't name them but they looked familiar.

We were there an hour and no one else came in

Where were you during the first quarter Jones? A true captain would have been seen encouraging every teammate. I didn't see you doing it.

No heart on that ground on Saturday.

The supporters are sick of that trash - please ask for a transfer.

Good on him for getting on the front foot and addressing it.  No doubt they all woke up very, very flat this morning and the last thing you want to do is talk to the media about it - but he did it, and now it's done.

Onwards and upwards.

It's like a meal you paid for, the entree was a bit iffy, the main course was good and had some interesting flavours and the dessert after much expectation was a disaster    back to the kitchen we have the ingredients add a few new ideas and away we go again

It is sport,  nobody dies

Too right Saty. It hurts a lot, but it doesn't seem so bad when I remind myself that it's just a game.

Onward and upwards.

Speak for yourself. Wallowing in self-pity isn't really my thing, but more to the point, achieves nothing.

As a some of the more even-keeled posters have pointed out already, what we want/need is a systematic, methodical review of the whole season (not just one game), where, why and how we came up short, and what we're going to do to address it. This from the players through the medical/conditioning staff and boot-studders to the coaches, FD and Board.

Which I'm sure is happening. As it would have in any case.

Of course it's does, but are the two mutually exclusive? All the reviews under the sun will count for little if many supporters feel disengaged.

Jones today did exactly what he should have done and my post was written before he fronted the press.  If they want to sell memberships before Christmas, they need to put the sour note that the season ended  on to rest by confronting it.  Now, from a marketing point of view, they can shift that narrative to all the positives that came out of the year.

This thread is %100 about how the club relates to, engages and connects with members and supporters.  Of course there will be a review.

I remember the exact same Press Conference in 2011 after 186 except it was fronted by Jared Rivers

THIS CLUB DOES NOT LEARN, it repeats itself....

Or the Neeld era ones fronted by either one of the two Jacks.

This would be the same Marketing Dept. who celebrated being in the Finals last week with the Members.

I hope there is a long and thorough review of the people who work in that room as well....

Was a shocker!

But I doubt that would have gone out without a big boss giving the OK.

Right nobody dies but robust complaints are warranted when  s**t sandwiches are served up on a regular basis when we are promised prime steak.

Even worse, if it was given the all clear from P.J. mate, you don't go early when the season is on the line.

You plan...

While I get the angst about it, I believe the cut off date for the finals tickets was tomorrow (Tuesday), meaning had we got in supporters may have only had a few days to prepare and know how to buy them.  Giving them some warning allowed it to reach more members.

Imagine if we get in and people start going off about not knowing how to get their tickets?

Either way, I get the angst, but I don't think the club jumped the gun.  They were just giving the fans some information to give them time if we made it.

No. You post that info on Saturday or Sunday night.

Or not at all....

Why is Jones hung out to dry alone? The first person I thought of Sunday night was Jones who deserved more from his team mates. Viney and the coach should have been there.

whole leadership team shoulda been there

Another gold standard first post.

Just one comment sport - transfers happen in soccer. We do trades.

MFC website hasn't acknowledged missing the finals yet. Still in a state of shock?

Probably out of embarrassment after the article on the website talking about finals as if they were locked in, emails sent to members about finals tickets etc.

I expect supporters to get ahead of themselves. I don't expect the club to be doing it. The whole thing has been a shamozzle.

Would have preferred the coach or at least the coach alongside Jonesy. The buck stops with the coach and given the performance and the season outcome it would have been sensible and fair to have Goodwin alongside Jones. To leave it all to Jones is rough.
