It's alright mate. Believe me, I may be blue sky and in control of my mood, but that effong hurt yesterday. You couldn't be a Melbourne supporter and not have felt kicked in the guts.

Don't despair though and definitely don't barrack for West Coast. The boys have a much better chance of redeeming themselves in our eyes if we actually make the finals, even if it is by default. I don't want this shitty feeling to be what I remember for the whole pre-season.

Carn the Crows!!

Mate, im despairing.

50 years and i have had nothing from my team. Nothing.

Don't think i've ever barracked for another team as much as i will for the Crows today.

Same here DD, except for the Geelong v Hawthorn game at Kardinia in 87

Makes me sick that Essendrug will play finals.

I'm with you.

I just cracked a bottle of spiced rum. It will ease the pain.

Just make sure you finish the whole bottle!

Made an oath I would not watch the Adelaide game, but I will be jumping on here every few minutes for better commentary.

You guys might make me feel that little bit better.

Season defining game...

And we aren't even playing... :/

Crows look a class above. Eagles are playing with effort but I cannot see them getting up

If you were Adelaide who would you prefer to play in the first final:  GWS or Richmond?

If answer is GWS they are indifferent to whether they win or lose today as GWS will shortly be 4th.

If answer is Richmond they won't mind losing as Richmond will shortly be 3rd.

The equation for us is still the same:  If Crows were to lose let it be by less than 4 goals...

GO CROWS YOU BEAUTIFUL BERSTARDS !!!

(it shouldnt have come to this)

I've taken tomorrow off work so it's a very good chance.

Let alone by 4 goals.

What keeps me going for this game is that, even without Tex, the Crows have so many different avenues to goal.  They'll get on a roll at some stage.  Eagles will hang around but the Crows will probably score at least 80 points, meaning the Eagles need to put up 100 to make it.

Eagles tackles in the first 11 minutes: 12
Melbourne tackles in the first 11 minutes: 0

Effort and want.

Wow that was a crap kick into the forward 50. I thought we were the only team that did that?

I'm getting nervous. Eagles look sharp

Of course they do. There's a finals spot on the line…

Idiotic after 10 seconds

Starting to not care, if we don't make finals, we have ended the season with a loss to the pies. If we do, we get smoked in an elimination final - just delaying the inevitable really.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
