Trade rumours

Don't think it matters much anymore. Two players who have major knee operations featuring in possible trades.

Playing groups in old, old clubs playing like sixteen year olds, after a game that would make any other side prostate on the ground. Another team who have won one final in a thousand years with a Sheedy type snipability, as Flag be all to end all favorite.

Not forgetting the new TEN strikes and your out policy that comes in next season.

And still the MEDIA haven't got the guts to do anything....

Sorry....what the hell are you talking about willmoy?? Is this a riddle?

There is NO chance we would trade Maxy

Nothing is certain in football when it comes to trading. Hogan going home would depend primarily on if he wants to be traded back to WA. if he does the club will do what they can to extract what value they can out of the deal. There are very very few footballers on our list that are untouchable.

there is an undeniable truth to this.  Palatable ? No   Possible ? Who ever knows, but NOT impossible

Don't really know, just putting a few thoughts out there about how and where Footy is going and my doubts about how different clubs seem to able , for no NORMAL reason, arise from the depths of old age, and sub par bog standard. OK

I do worry about the longevity of Gawn both with his knees and with his type of ruckman being made redundant by rules to protect more flexible players that will run off him and make him look slow and one dimensional...

It would be cold blooded if we move him on though...

Um, was that an attempt at clarification? If so consider me still confused. You are not channeling deeluded by any chance?

Just heard from my old man who deals with a few clients who are close to Melbourne officials,  that Gawn could be on the move as we are looking to use him to secure Lever and retain our top picks to then get Gaff. They believe with the way the game is evolving that having that extra runner in the midfield in the form of Watts / Pedo / Tmac rotating in ruck we are less reliable on just winning hit outs and become more unpredictable.

Very complex deal, up to 4 clubs involved something along the lines of Gawn to GWS, their 1st rounder + 2nd rounder to Carlton, Gibbs to Adelaide, Lever to Melbourne. Our pick 10 for Gaff and looking to land another experienced player through free agency from Geelong, that's all I know (starting to think it's Motlop, wants a fresh start and would compliment as another outside runner and also to help support Jeffy and look to improve his forward line pressure)

Don't shoot the messenger. Cheers.

If you don't want to be shut down, then i suggest you don't post the most fanciful thing I have ever heard.  Completely rubbish

Some reports that Hogan wants to go home and a 3 way trade is being negotiated by Fremantle, Dees and Adelaide which would see -

Fremantle get Hogan

Adelaide get pick 5

Dees get Lever

As I've said weeks ago, it wold not surprise me to see Hogan go home after the year the poor kid has had. But I don't believe this report is true, I guess we will watch this space. If that were to happen I'd want Adelaide's pick 16 in exchange also.

If Hogan wanted to go home.  I'd be wanting Lever & the Crows P17.

Or Hogan & P27 to Freo, for Freo's P5 & Lachie Neale.

Or Hogan & P27 to Freo.  >  Lachie Neale & P27 to Crows. >  Lever P17 & P35 to Demons.

God I hate this time of year. So much crap talk.

Gawn is one who I would trade and get maximum value at his peak (like a share). Not sure how his knees are going to hold up but interestingly our form dropped off after his return, unsure why? The mobile ruckmen of the comp quite often dominate him also.

he didn't seem fully fit or nqr after he came back from hammy. was he carrying an injury?

Interesting .... his 2017 form was not that great and one has to wonder if 2016 is his norm or an aberration.

If we had a reasonable replacement I could be persuaded but as we haven't it is but a thought point.

As silly as this sounds, I think Watts' best position is ruck, he plays well there when he's put there. Probably a case of he cant hide and has to work, hence getting the best out of him.

Very much agree that he should be played in the mid field.

I remember when Neeld played him in the ruck and people were amazed. Anything that gets him into the thick of the game.

One problem, GWS DO NOT have a first round pick. They lost it due to Whitfield drug issue and their 2nd round pick will be in the 30's. They are not trading anyone out yet who would draw a first rounder so dont think they have the collateral to go after Max. In addition any points they need for academy players is hindered by the loss of points.

I think it's obvious how good Gawn can be. In his first uninterrupted preseason he was AA and by some margin. Some of his tap work in that year to our mids was sublime and a distinct advantage.

Even talk of trading him = FMD.

Devon Smith may get them a first rounder

Mr Tyson can be as aggrieved as he is above when Gawn taps to red and blue jumpers at a greater clip than he does now...

If we trade Gawn and have no real ruck I'll cry like that Richmond supporter on talkback a couple of years ago when GWS were pounding them by 120pts at 3/4 time

Sheer madness IMO.

If Max was an average ruck and mark I'd be a little more receptive. But last year showed he's in the best 2 or 3 in the league. One of our few players that can change the course of a game.

Geelongs don't have a first rounder either. Their earlist pic is currently pic 20 and assuming Smith wants to return to Geelong as rumoured

Missing 10 games of footy doesn't help foster continuity.

a change of technique may be all he needs but I agree that the oppo seemed to be getting better service when he returned from injury.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
