Are we merging with North? Only explanation for this deal.

Ex North players to Melbourne. Stephen Icke and Brian Wilson were pretty decent. If Brown comes close to them it will be good.

You forgot PEDDDDOOOO!!

Remind me again. Why were the club trying to push Mahoney out the door? I'm not sure how he goes the other 51 weeks of the year but his work during trade week has been faultless.

Yes there is another one but he is not in the class of Icke or Wilson.

Definately a quality forward and the highlights show he is more than a player who leads and marks the ball but a contested beast.

Not to mention Alan Jarrott, Shane Zantuck (via South Melb), Brent Crosswell and to a far lesser extent Xavier Tanner.

[censored] Josh Mahoney! We've been bent over again! Why didn't this deal get done three weeks ago?

Yes reading all those apology posts is amazing.

Memories are short, next season the same naysayers will repeat their doubts

How good does the MFC polo look? Impressive young man is Ben. Look forward to watching him run around in the red and blue.

While I was hoping we'd land some outside speed and class, I'm stoked to land BBB - especially when prior to the trade period I would have thought he would be worth at least a first round pick.

I think having a proven goal kicker at the club will be enormous - great for the development of Weid and Jacko and will be good practice for our defenders who increasingly have to deal with forwards of around 200cm.

We also got Ron Barassi from North

Not to mention Slug Jordan and Gags Gallagher that followed him.

So who's moaning and groaning about getting BB into the MFC?

Not me. He's exactly what is needed for the next few years.

Straightens up our forward line immediately.

Let chaos reign on either side.

Did we get Martin Pike from North or was it the other way around?

I think he was at Fitzroy, then Melbourne, then North and then Brisbane.

Melbourne then Fitzroy, then North......

Got the deal done and nailed it. Hopefully the worst is behind him and he kicks his bags again.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
