Easy as that I think.

Misson says he expects Watts, Hunt and Jetta to all get up. No mention at all of Hibberd - where has that talk come from?

Bummed about Jones though. That's interfered with my mood more than any injury has this year including Hogan. Not because he's the best player but because he's not supposed to break, feels like it's upset the universe a bit.

The Hibberd talk arose because the media pack wanting to report on the status of Jones and Watts got images of Hibberd limping on the Tuesday morning.   I'd suggest there's plenty of sore bodies the day after a game of AFL.  Nothing in it whatsoever.

The jones article on the AFL website says Hibberd is under a cloud.

Wouldn't mind seeing maynard but would be a fair slap in the face to tren and jkh

Trengove is finished and although I understand the sentament in playing him I believe it is better for the club to get games into Stretch and or Maynard.

Not heard to much about Maynard aside from that he racks em up.

What position does he play? Off half back like his brother?

Jones is a big out, but we can cover it.  You would think Vince and Lewis would spend more time in the middle of the ground than they have been to cover it.  If Watts plays then it also gives us the freedom to use Petracca in there a little more as well, so we are covered around the ball.  Gawn helps out big time as well as we might get first look at the footy for once.

In:  Gawn

Out:  Jones

I know it's a tall for a small but the Eagles play tall so I think it will be fine for this week.  Guys like JKH and Stretch are doing nothing wrong at VFL level, but after a 10 goal win you would be hard pressed to drop anyone else.

Frost out, you are kidding.  He has been fantastic this year

He has played well but I reckon we are too tall down back with the Macs, frost and hibbo able to play tall.

If Kennedy doesn't play surely we drop a tall for Gawn?? Otherwise we lose some of our run

who would you drop?

Not really, although that may be my opinion because I know what the other two bring to the side.  I don't think Maynard will play but he is more of a pure midfielder (these days) than the other two, with JKH spending his time at half forward and Trengove seemingly being trialed across half back.

And Misson didn't mention anything about Hibberd so you would assume he's fine to go this weekend.

I am amazed off a second 6 day break on the longest plane trip to play on the longest ground we will play the same side aside from Gawn in and Jones out. I expect 3 changes purely to rest bodies in prep for Sydney the following week and just due to the differing conditions.

Agree 100%! There will be.

Hes racking up touches for Casey and from all reports he is hard as nails.

You may be on to something, HB.

He is the one player from Casey I am most excited to see in action. I like the way his brother plays and think we might have something here...

Sublaco is 15m longer than the MCG and 19m narrower

I'm thinking the same. We need to swap Jones out with another mid because quite frankly, spreading the workload that Jones has been doing on to the other existing mids will be to great an ask and that's taking into account the effectiveness of Max's taps.

I feel as though Goodwin will debut Maynard this weekend. It'll be X factor the Eagles will be caught out by. As much as I want Trengove to play, Maynard will be a ferocious bull at stoppage and his quick hands will benefit the corridor footy I expect to see on Saturday night. To keep up the attack we showed against the Dogs, we'll need fresh player doing the grunt work this weekend.

In: Gawn, Maynard

Out: Jones, NFI

Kennedy,JKH and Kent all rubbish players , now that someone has slagged them you can expect them to stand up if selected dees v eagles.

You think Frosty can't run?He may not break lines but he fast and can get to spoils. He has got to stay in.

Mid field rotations are such a big thing I cannot see how you can replace a key midfielder with a ruckman. It's chalk and cheese.

Salem moving full time into the midfield seriously reduces our drive from the back line. Moreover he is an outside mid so who plays Jones' role as the inside mid.

At Casey JKH plays largely on the inside so perhaps. Same perhaps goes for Jack T.

And then if you bring a mid in for Jones we are back to the original question namely who goes out for Gawn.

Ah.. such conundrums.

If Kennedy doesn't play they have the dinosaur Petrie and Darling at key talls with Vardy occasionally resting in the fwd.

i reckon we are too tall if we have:

watts, pedo up fwd with Gawn ruck

and T Mac, O Mac and Frost at the back

thoughts? Should we drop a tall? Want to make we maximise run and have some good distributors at the back

If jones has pulled up sore than I'd definitely look at giving him a week. Don't want to push it with him as he's so important to our team.

Maybe Pedo moves into the truer FF position, play Petracca as a midfielder, and Gawn comes in for Jones.

I wonder how much time Gawn will play. I think he will spend a quarter the bench and a quarter up forward. All we have to do up forward is get the ball down on the ground and let Garlett and company do the rest. Jeffy is on fire this year.

Trac in midfield is smart.

Vince in midfield is an option as I'm not sure hes suited to being in the backline.

Jones is the only out then which is unfortunate (that punch of his was fantastic) but I doubt he will miss Swans game....hes a tough as they come.

Tmac can still go forward if needed does west coast have enough tall backs to cover watts, tmac, pedo and gawn

Just a thought but Trengove could do well in that he is an inside player and marks the ball well, with our better disposal and link play he might have a place at Subi. I am really concerned about the areial battle.

If Jones has a quad strain, as reported then he will miss this week. Quads are pretty tricky & they won't risk it, he could miss 2 - 3.

Watts had a limp after the game, he would also be doubtful particularly with a long flight ahead. The way he was walking didn't look like just a bit of tightness.

...so, I guess I'm not as sure that both will play.

Jones out 4-6 weeks.

Watts is a "test"

Yep, quads can be very tricky...missed a finals series because of one back in the day.

I was being optimistic with 2 - 3.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
